Hi and hello. With the purchase of my new to me Alembic, my sixth to date, I happily join this forum. Unfortunately, this new bass is the only one I currently own. All the others have gone by one way or another. A little history. My first was a Distillate/Exploiter, pictured below, that I found at GC San Jose sometime in the mid 80’s. I paid $1800, which I talked my dad into loaning me, as I was as they say, a struggling musician at the time. As I recall, this bass I lost in a drug induced haze, and often have regrets over losing this one. My dilemma is sometimes I can’t decide if I want to play guitar or bass, as over the years I have done both in gigging bands. Hence, when I decide to play guitar, I often would sell an Alembic to fund something else, and vice versa. A vicious circle indeed. So, through the years, in addition to the Distillate, I have owned an Epic, Essence, Series One- Steve Fossen’s that I got from Bass Northwest and subsequently sold, Stanley Clarke Signature ( I do miss this one), and now this 32 incher Custom 4, s/n 06c13626, that I got from our friends at Bass Northwest. So, included are images of the new bass, and a shot of a 1981 catalog, when the Distillate was first introduced. In closing, remember; hold on to all the instruments that bring value to your life. Thank you for the kind comments. And, thanks Dave for the post cleanup. I have registered with Alembic as the new owner of this bass, and asked for additional info, as I did not receive any documentation with the bass. Should I do another post in s/n requests? Thanks! |

Hi Tim, Welcome to the club! That's a beauty batwing! I love the knobby peghead, and the custom neck wood! A real keeper! Enjoy it! Kris |

If you asked for the build info when you registered, then I would wait and see if they see that request and respond. If you don't hear from them after a little while then go ahead and post a request in the serial number section. |

I really like the overall look of this bass. In fact I was admiring the combination of woods in the rear view when I noticed the tuners are not the normal Gotohs. So I'm wondering what kind of tuners these are. |
