i've admired alembic basses from afar since i started playing 15 years ago. they're pretty, but i could never justify spending that sort of dough when i've always played in wild, drunken rock'n'roll bands, and my basses have the battle scars to mirror that fact. in recent years a lot has changed, and i caved to my bass dreams. my current line up is an orion 4, a spoiler 4, a fender 50th anniversary p-bass, and a stringray. after years of being a fender advocate, i got to say that these alembics make you feel truly spoiled as a player. i'll throw up some photos soon.

Hello Evan,
Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the family. Your two Alembics are a good start. Play well with them for years to come.
Hope you enjoy the company and atmosphere.
We all love pictures, so please post yours in the showcase.

Evan, welcome! I understand your worry about instrument abuse; I used to kick the back of my flying v (that used to belong to Lenny Kravitz-he'd be horrified, how I got it's a long story...) for feedback while holding it in front of the amp; it still has boot marks on the back and lots more from being tossed into the drums, etc...I'd never toss my bass into the drums, but I play my instruments hard and the Alembic seems to take it better than my guitars ever did; mind you I don't kick it either...Tony.

Yeah, that's me Evan. Flying v and a hawaiian shirt...been too long since I've been to Seattle, but Marcus still gets Motorama down there. Does Marcus have any of your recordings?
A small world indeed...

Evan, talked to Marcus last night and he does have some stuff which he'll give to me...who's basement did Carl and I sleep in? the snorers room with the spiders...oh well...
If you miss the loud and noisy, get back on that horse; if nothing else, it blows life's tensions to smithereens...I always feel better when my ears ring, my fingers hurt and my voice is thrashed(I sing in my new band too, wonder of wonders...)

i believe it was the last incarnation of motorama, that we hung around. i'm sure you'd remember mauser otherwise. burt and rich i believe were the guys' names.

yeah, seems like i've become nothing more than a hired gun for friends indie projects. it's cool, i like the studio, and playing mellower tunes isn't so bad. check the monday mornings on myspace.

i'm real close with the guys from the fall of troy, and thomas has asked me to sign on with his future solo project (don't really know if i should be talking about that, but whatever) so hopefully i'll be testing my finger speed like i was 20 years old again far sooner than later.

Evan, yeah that was Bert and Rich, though Rich has just left but Bryan their new guy is a killer bassist.

Glad to hear there's some loud in your future; I like mellow as well(and used to get hassled for it in Motorama at the time)but a loud amp blasting a big riff is a glorious thing...and screw those people who think you should grow up and stop playing like that; they're just neutered...

agreed bro. as much as i love the elliott smiths and cat powers, my favorites are still jesus lizard, hot water music, and the wipers of this world.
