Hi all - I've already traded messages with a number of you but wanted to post some "cleaned up" pics of the '83 Series II graphite I recently purchased. It's running through a F-1X, dba 160a, Crown into a 210 and a 112 (Aguilar GS cab). Spent about 4 hours last night taking apart what I could and cleaning, polishing, wiping, etc. etc. Headstock logo got a polish, the nut was polished, the tuning machines were polished, the frets were polished, disassembled the bridge and block - polished those. Then it got some new nickel strings. My fingers hurt last night! Anyway, here's the results.

I took everything apart that I could (the nut, bridge assembly, and the brass block under the bridge). Other than being tedious to do, once they were off the body it was pretty straightforward to disassemble and polish. The frets and tuning machines were also pretty easy - you just have to be very careful if you have a wood finger/pegboard (mine has a phenolic fb and a walnut pb). Now the logo was a little trickier. I took alot of time and used VERY LITTLE polish (it doesn't take much). Just lightly dabbed it on with my finger then buffed it off (again, carefully). I used Flitz polish since it was the one recommended by Alembic. You can get a tube of it at Ace Hardware for $9.49. |

DUDE! Thats a nice looking bass. Nice accuisition Brent! Have you had much time to play her yet? I'll admit it took me some time (even still) to get used to the controls. I was never one to change my tone much, in fact almost never. But the S-2 offers some much and at such a great quality I fing myself trying lots of different sounds. Have fun bro, don't forget to eat! haha! Funny you mentioning to remember to eat 'cause last night I completely forgot to! My wife finally came down to the studio around 10 and asked. I completely spaced on eating... |
