...my name is Ken, and I'm a bass player...oh, wait! Wrong group... I have been scheming to get myself an Alembic for the last...well...century or so, and I finally got myself to a point where I could actually get one these wonderful basses. So, last Friday my wife and I drove up to Santa Rosa (about 1.5 hours drive from our house) and went to the factory. One word...INCREDIBLE!!! I wasn't sure what model I wanted, so I played Mica's Essence. It sounded a little dark for my playing, so Mary grabbed a Rogue that was bound for England later that day. It was perfect...Buckeye Burl and Purpleheart edging, crisp, precise action, just a dream. So my wife says "That one sounds so much better! And that wood is gorgeous!" How could I argue? I now have a Buckeye Burl Rogue 4-string on order, due in 8 to 10 weeks! |

Congrats Ken! Welcome to the support group. You are ready for being a member, since it appears as you may have a sense of humor there;) That is great that you got to both visit Alembic and order your new baby while you are there. Oh yeah, having a wife who not only understands, but also can play and choose the finest is priceless. Can my wife call her??? That will be a looong 8 to 10 weeks, but timely for Christmas! Again, welcome aboard Ken! Paul The Good One- yeah, right........ |

Hi Ken, welcome to this small but great club! Paul the good one already welcomed you and many Pauls will follow... :-) Good idea to order an Alembic while visiting the plant! Not bad. I own a Spyder 4 and have a Spyder 8 in the pipeline. Take care Oliver |

Yep ...our wifes should meet! Oh gosh I really would like to make a visit to that factory. OTOH it will make my dream even more painful. So I guess I will stay here for another couple of years. Ken great to have you here! Com'on brothers there is nothing more to do here (Brother Dino close the door when you leave after you've been here) we all go now to the "Factory to Customer Department" where we live through the birth of another fine specie of this breed. Alembic is pregnant Again???? Again!!!!! How's the father? Tired! And the mother?? Starting labour for a couple of months! LOL Paul the bad one

Hey Guys!!! Wait up!!! Ken, welcome to the group and congrats on finding the right Alembic for you. This club is more like a support group than a club. Believe me, we'll all be right there with you when you start to sweat the arrival of your new bass. And you will sweat... it's only normal. All of us will be sweating right there with you. You didn't just buy a bass, you adopted a family!!! HA!!!! All the best!!! Dino(brother Paul the fake one) |

Congratulations on your family addition! You won't be disappointed.... the wait will be worth it. Try not to get a speeding ticket on your way to pick it up! I've been playing a Rogue 5 for 4+ years now and I'm still amazed by it. Paul the John one |

Ken, I can totally agree with the hip wife vibe. My lady is also a musician (classical clarinet) and when I was ready for my next Alembic all I had to do was remind her that her last instrument purchase was in excess of $8,000. Then suddenly Alembics pricing looks pretty sweet : ) Anyway, welcome and congrats on the new addition to your life. Later, Matt |

Ken, welcome! As you can see, it's different here. Everyone is happy to see another Alembic enthusiast and to see your dreams come to fruition. Get ready to enjoy that appetizing wood and the tonal bliss. By the way, you made an excellent choice for your FIRST order. It probably won't be your last. Right on,another Rogue fan.I messed about with a Rogue 5 a few years ago, fell in love with the shape and feel and sound but alas, just out of my reach financially and I made it a quest to own a Rogue. Finally got one, (check it out here) http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/5756.html?1061545386 and it was pure bliss when it finally arrived. Also check out THG Knobs if you have a hankering to swap out the original controll knobs for incredible, custom made, exotic wood replacements. http://www.thgknobs.com/ I know,I know,I promised to post pics with the THG knobs last week sometime, and I will,I swear.I'm still trying to laso somebody with a digi camera to shoot it.So welcome Ken and enjoy the Alembic addiction. |
