Hi Brian!

Indeed, a welcome to the club is in order. Ooooh, a Mark King 5 standard sounds good. You certainly have gained a family here, but just for your own sanity, watch out for those "Pauls". You never know what's going to happen when they are lurking around, and they will be lurking....

That does sound like a great Christmas present too!

A MK believe ...that will be the nicest made up christmas tree in your whole live.
Don't forget to to use a lot of brillant red balls and small candles to finish the job. However, when you took the option of side leds that comes in more handy.
The inconvenience is that there is not a lot of place under the MK to put presents, but ....hey what are we complaining the whole thing is a present.
"I'm dreaming of a whiiiiiiiiii-ite mark king..."
And don't forget the stockings (shut up Paul TGO!!!) to fiull with presents, 1 at each tuner ...

Paul the bad one

PS ...oh BTW welcome Brian

Brian,

Poor sod, Christmas' future will never be the same, but welcome anyway! I'd give up future Christmases for a new Alembic this year....

I'm sure you can't wait to get your hands on it.

Once you get it, please let us know all about how you have fallen in love all over again!

BP

I agree, your Christmas gifts from now on will only be greeted with ' . . . remember the Christmas when I got the MK?'

We're all glad you're here. But I'll issue my 'standard' warning about the metaphysical process about to occur: After a while, your MK WILL own YOU instead of the other way around.
Can't say I didn't warn you . . .

Brian,

Welcome to the club....

Merry Christmas it will be I'm sure. There's another club within this one called "AA" Alembics Anonymous. It's a support group that caters to those of us that spend way too much time playing their Alembics. After about the third day without any sleep, you'll be calling them!!! HA Just kidding!!!

Congrats on the new bass!!!

Now that we've gotten through the first round of enthusiasm (which is quite appropriate, of course), we also owe our new friend Brian a few words on the art of waiting.

If you go back to the original post, you'll notice that "it is to be ready around x-mas time". While it would be great if it shows up in time to be the tree, "around" could just as well turn out to be sometime in January.

Being a small, mostly-family operation, you never know what might happen. One case of the flu can pretty much shut down the entire operation for a week or two, as it did late last winter. Even in normal times, Monday's pictures might well show up later in the week (sounds like you're catching on, Brian) - though you might find that Mica posted them very late at night, or even on a weekend.

Many of us have been through something like this, or worse, so there are a couple of things you should accept completely:
- the folks at Alembic simply will not be rushed, they're going to do it right
- however long it takes, it will be worth the wait.

We're all pulling for you, and share in your excitement. Just don't let us set you up for a big disappointment, if it takes a little longer than you'd hoped.

-Bob
