Hi everyone,

Guess I just wanted to say hello, and to officially join your ranks after an astounding 25 years of waiting for the right Alembic to come by at a time I could afford it. Well, it finally did! 5A quilted front and back, fretless, side LEDs, crown peghead and the stinger body shape I've come to really love.

Now I need to get a little more serious about my amplification. My rigs are ok, and I can hear the sound of God's own piano when I play this instrument ... but now I really want to pull that sound out.

Anyway, it's great to belong!

Brother Robert,

this instrument will sing to more ears than yours alone. Very nice indeed.
Welcome to the club, a heartly welcome. ALll other Pauls are now under the table snoring ...well ...you know ...put bass-players virtually together in a virtual bar with virtual beer (mad by 1 Paul) and what do you get ...a virtual mess of Paul's "hanging over".
Amplification ...oh my ...sky is the limit. We have experts here around: experts of the small and of the large.
You'll find Tweak Peaks somewhere -that's my rig- but hey ...my other "rig" is a Danelectero DP12 ...the tyniest thing you ever saw.
Edwin Van Huik (EVH from the signature bass) has a Phenomenal rig but plays at home always on a Marshall the size of a CD box.
My Brother Paul the Good one doesn't need an amp at all ...his head is sooooooooo big and empty he simply bites the board of his Excel and starts filling the space playing LOL!!!

ANyway ..it's good to have you here!

Welcome aboard Robert!

That certainly is a great looking bass. The only thing I would suggest on an amp is to take your bass to some stores and try out some amps. After all, everyone's taste is different and using your head as an amp takes some practice, and some dentist bills when your fillings rattle loose!

Again, welcome to the support group.....

Pretty bass and welcome to the club! I'm not as eloquent as the other Pauls so I'll just say make sure you go for lots of power in your new rig!

Welcome to the club, Robert and Happy New Year to all! Great looking bass. Congratulations. I don't know how you'd fail to enjoy your new friend a lot.

I understand your dilemmma on amplification. I'd love to hear how it's turning out for you and what kind of rig you put together. I just got my first Alembic (used) in '03, after (can you believe?) more than 25, even more than 30 years of lusting after Alembics. Things worked out even better than expected and I decided to have an Alembic custom-built. My Hartke 3500 and assorted cabinets (funny, but they made my J bass sound great!?) just don't live up to the sound potential of my current Alembic and would certainly deflate my new bass.

I'm planning a rig that starts with an FX1 or F2B (haven't decided) and runs through a QSC PLX 2402 (already ordered). I'm going to try a pair of Acme Low B 210's to see if that completes the picture.

Sorry for going on, but I really would like to hear about what you finally put together to "pull the sound out" of your beautiful new friend ("God's own piano" - I really like that!).

Anyway, welcome. I am sure you are going to find this an exceptionally friendly, supportive and helpful group.

Hey everyone,

A VERY HAPPY AND BASSY NEW YEAR!!!!

Keep those pictures coming, everytime I think I have the ideal bass in mind, a new pictures pops up on my screen and I can start all over again. Which isn't that bad, cause I haven't convinced my lady why I must have that new special exclusive handmade tasty shiny rocking earthshaking (but not too much) Alembic bass.....

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I really appreciate your support and input. I am starting to find my way around the site, and learning who is who (I figure I'll understand the Paul situation by 2005, latest).

See you on the message boards!

Welcome to the asylum Robert. Congratulations on an outstanding bass. Let me be the first to start the more pictures chant. Especially when you get that new rig put together.
Good luck on figuring out the Paul situation. Let us know how that's going from time to time.
