Hello,

I'm from Philadelphia and just bought my first Alembic from another forum member here. She is a 76 long scale Series 1 with plenty of mojo.

She needs a little lovin' but I'll get her fixed up as time and money allow.

Best,
Ben

Welcome!

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, we need pictures!

More seriously though, you've come to the right place. Those old Series basses are wonderful.

Ben, Congratulations and welcome to the forum. Had you been looking long? Nice mojo for sure, a '76 would likely have some stories to tell. Play it Healthy! And post pictures please. Art

Thanks all for the warm welcome. My wife and I hope to travel to both France and Australia some time in the not too distant future once the kids are a little older.

Here is a pic of my bass taken by a former owner. Would love to hear from any prior custodians of this bass (76 056).

76 series 1

Mojo, bravado - you name it - classic!

Standard Point in bird's eye maple, just wonderful.

I'd clean up the brass ...

There is a certain charm that these lower serial number 70's Alembic instruments have . I love it , Thanks for the photo.

Never really been a maple top kind of guy, but I love it against the koa body.

Cleaning the brass is high on the priority list. Thinking of making ebony covers for the pickups and humcanceller. Also, the headstock neckjoint cracked and was repaired. Functional, but not pretty. Looking for a way to clean that up.

Nice Axe Phobucket!
I'm originally from South West Philadelphia too!
I'm going to visit my mom today. You can check out my Alembic, go to distillates and then go to Chalie's Distillate.
Email me so we can trade numbers and I can check you out when I go to Philly. I'll bring my axe too!

Love the aged look on the top! Looks exactly like my former fretless series two from 75-76 era. She is now in the caring hands of glocke.

We may be in the serial number vortex on this one. I have 74-59 and my earliest 1976 (I have three) is 399. But the "C" numbers are out of sequence and are lower numbers. Where does this fit into the pattern?

The bass in # 76' "AE" 056 in my archives.
The serial number with additional letter "AE" "AC" "A" "o" are out of regular range.
