Dear Friends, I am the author of several critically acclaimed books on guitars, most recently Hand Made,Hand Played: The Art and Craft of Contemporary Guitars. For more about me and my books, please visit my web site www.roberteshaw.com/Guitars.html. I am now at work on a new book, this time focussing on electric guitars (no basses this time, sorry) made since 2000. This will be a beautifully made hardcover art book published by Sterling Publishing in New York (www.sterlingpub.com), one of the world's leading publishers of non-fiction books. I am in need of high quality photos of a couple of Alembics for the book and hope you might be able to help. I would love to have an early guitar ('70s) to use in the introduction about the history of electric guitars as well as one or two really remarkable Alembics made in the past ten years. I need high res images, at least 300 dpi and large enough to print full page. Details would also be most welcome. I would of course credit anyone whose images I use and also be sure you get a copy of the book when it comes out. Many thanks. Bob Shaw My email address is: shaw.bob@myfairpoint.net |

You could go to the Featured Custom Vault [new window], find the guitars, and grab the pictures. |

Just wanted to share this email from Robert Shaw regarding the book. Forgive me this group notice, but I wanted to let you know that my book on electric guitars, to which you contributed, has just been listed for pre-sale on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/dp/1402747748 The publisher decided to title the book "Electrified: The Art of the Contemporary Electric Guitar." The book is just coming out of design and looks absolutely terrific. It is scheduled to be in stores in early October, and the publisher will be sending you a comp copy soon after it is officially released. I will keep you posted as we get closer to publication. We ended up including guitars by 125 different companies and independent builders around the world. The cover guitar is by Johnny Mørch and Mørch Guitars of Denmark, which is one of 16 countries represented in the book. Thanks again for all your help and support with this project! Hope you have a great summer. All best wishes, Bob Robert Shaw Independent curator, author, and editor 802/985-0737 shaw.bob@myfairpoint.net www.roberteshaw.com www.artofthequilt.com www.americanquilts-thedemocraticart.com www.birddecoysofnorthamerica.com I'm chuffed that my Dragon Magic will be in the book. I had an email from Bob shaw this past week. It seems the book release is imminent. Hello, I am very happy to announce that my new book ELECTRIFIED: THE ART OF THE CONTEMPORARY ELECTRIC GUITAR will be in bookstores (and available from Amazon and other online sources) within the next few days. I have advance copies from the publisher and can tell you that it is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. I hope you will be as pleased with it as I am. The book includes more than 250 beautiful color shots, many of them full page, of guitars by 125 independent builders and companies from the US and 14 other countries. All but a handful of the guitars in the book have been built within the last few years, so it really offers a spectacular overview of the current scene. It is a substantial (10 3/8 X 11 1/4 inches) hardcover with a dust jacket and retails for a very reasonable $35. I am attaching pix of the cover and dust jacket to give you a feel for the book. You can see a number of inside spreads at: www.roberteshaw.com/Guitars.html. As a thank-you for your contributions to the book, the publisher will be sending you a complimentary copy, which you should receive within a month. Please send me a note if you don't get one by the end of November, and I will nudge the publisher. Any promotion you can do to help get the word out about the book will help us all. • If you know magazine, major newspaper, or web site editors who would be interested in reviewing the book, please send me their addresses, and I will have the publisher send them a review copy. Please feel free to tell them about the book and give them my contact info. |
