After a warm welcome on my first post for a question about Alembic electronics, here is my introducton:
First thing you should know about me: I am not a Alembic owner :-). At this moment I am learning music theory (because I got no bass at all). And meanwile I am saving money for a secret Alembic project:

Yes: an Alembic Edwin van Huik. But maybe I will get my custom order.
Cheers!

Allright,
those EVH-models are real mean bass machines! They will suck up all your hours, and you'll have to keep playing them untill your fingers bleed. Meanwhile you'll have to make pictures to post on this club, and get loads of beer in the house in case some Belgium neighbour pays you a visit......

Alembic owner, Alembic enthusiast, it's all the same. All that's required is an appreciation of these fine instruments and a love of music. A love of beer is a plus but not mandatory.
The EVH is a great choice for your custom project. Edwin is a great guy too from what I've seen of him.

Great choice Marco, go for it.
Check my showcase signature threads if you have the time. If you want to testdrive two of the "first generation" evh signatures, you're free to contact me. I have a EVH 4 and 5 string.
Your project has a lot in common with my 5 string. I guess that this one is currently in Hilversum at Ed's shop ?

Good speech Paul !
Peace

Hoi Marco, welkom!

Nice to see another Dutch Alembic-enthousiast here. I'm a proud 'owner' only since last January, purchased my Orion at EVH's shop, and haven't looked back since. He's a great guy, great player and some day one day I'll definitely place a custom order via his shop.

Groetjes!

When I moved to the U.S. ,about 11 years ago from Portugal, I had a hard time understanding what the people were saying, some people around here have a thick boston accent. The worst part is that I promissed myself that I would never talk like them, well...I was wrong.

Gee ...I thought you were talking Elvish?!?!
Mmmmmm...I have to consult my daughter on this.
Or maybe .... if Brother Jan the boat one is aboard (well ...he could be on a cruise to the Chackamackanian coast????).

I thought I said something about having a beer.
The last sentence is asking you, Brother Paul what you want to drink in Irish.

A-ha ...now you're talking.
I'd like an ale!
I'm not a Guiness man. I DO like the "Kilkenny" style of beer but I know there are others and better.
And ...of course ...I'm a HUGE fan of Irish whiskies. Although my stomach says NOT to be too much fan!!!

Paul the bad one

SAM ....we'll HAVE that drink ...once ...ever ...in the future ...certain ...

Hi,
My english is way to bad to jump in with a Boston-accent. And I heardly speak Alembic.

But at Alembic they are helping me: The Edwin van Huik signature is the "custom-of the month".
Welcome to you all. Chat with ya later!

Well then, it's time for me to join the flock of dutch Alembophiles here. We're becoming an unevenly large group, it seems. Like Marco,I don't own an Alembic, but thanks to him I do have Alembic electronics fitted in my home made jazz bass. A slow start, but you've gotta learn to crawl before you learn to walk. And you have to make money to spend it ;)
And that makes it time to follow Sam and Paul. Cheers!

Hadie Joram,

hoe gaat het maatje????
Welcome to the club. Well ...that ALembic will come. Once you're here it WILL come definitely. If you can't hold and are up to robbing a bank ...It will be my pleasure to rent the nylon stockings to you. Although ...don't rob a Hilversum bank because that's where Edwin has his shop and those bankers know what's goin'on here!
Anyway ....th ebst way to a good Alembic is MAAM (Mathumb's Alembic Acquisitian Method) so ...if you use the "Search" button or ask Brother James (Malthumb) nicely via mail ...he'll explain everything about it!
