Well then I have another crazy idea for a custom Alembic and this time it involves my latest Aquisition, which is a beautifull Gretsch double Jet semie solid, the Malcom Young signature guitar. Given the fact that I started a side project called "The Rattlesnakes" with which we'll play rockabilly, the Gretsch fits the bill perfectly exept for a few things I'd like to see differently and here's where my idea for an Alembic custom guitar comes in. The Gretsch has two Filtertron pickups, volumes for each and one overall volume (which is a very practical thing I must say)a tree way pickup selector and a three way "Muffler" switch which takes all the treble from your sound. It also has a solid Leo quann "Bad ass" bridge. What I don't like about my Gretsch is the fact that the body binding cuts into my lower arm as I'm playing it. (a complaint which also prompted me to sell the Les Pauls I owned over the years) and the switches which are located driectly above the strings can be knocked over accidentely when strumming. My vision is a body shape similar to the Double Jet (the series one guitar body shape or the shape of the Stanley Clarke) but with rounded edges for playing comfort, since I play Rockabilly I want the body to be hollowed out for that extra spank. And to further enhance the fifties cool, I'd want it to be baby blue with cream covered pickups and chrome hardware. I guess it should be made of the same materials as my Gretsch, Mahogany body with maple top with a set in maple neck with a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, as for fingerboard inlays, the word "BANG" across the fingerboard would be cool. what about it, can it be done or is it too wild and rocking?
