Hi to all you Alembicans,

I ordered my bass on 10/28 here are the specs, its my first totally custom made bass, but not my first Alembic, I would welcome your thoughts, comments etc. as it is still a tree and not a bass yet !

Series II, triple omega, pistol grip, heart omega, P.H. neck lams, Ebony board, Abalone ovals, comfort fingerboard taper, Fr blue laser LEDs, Blue side LED's, knobby peghead, Coco Bolo top & back, Mahogany body, gold logo & script, bird tail piece, cont wood backplates, wood truss rod cover, pickup selector on lower horn, mono/stereo switch for 1/4 inch output, on/off sw for LED's ( all on, side on only, all off) and inlays under Logo like the one on November feat custom.
I can't wait till it comes !!, yeah it's alot of bass, but you only live once !!

Bob, you didn't state the scale length. I know it will be short or medium, but which? How many strings? I prefer the pickup selector switch in the lower horn, too, except when I get the old urge to emulate Mark King. Ouch! But, I still like it there better.

Since you are getting blue LEDs, are you going to get a dimmer on the side ones? Mine can be kind of blinding in low light situations. The fronts don't matter, as only the crowd really sees those.

I am pretty excited about you getting your custom made. I hope you don't go mad in the next few months. Anticipation can be a killer!

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for the input, I thought I left something out..oops long scale 35 inch, # strings was in the title (6 Strings), Do you really think the pickup switch on the lower horn would get in the way ?
I do slap and pop some ( not as good as MK....I wish I did ! ) I was reading the posts about LED's and it had crossed my mind about the dimmer, but I believe there will still be time to change that if I want to.........as for the anticipation, even the Dealer was excited about it when he saw the specs on my bass, I did want to wait till next year to do it but with the increase......... I have 16 other basses to keep me occupied till it comes, two I'm selling ( 4 strings, 1 fretted, 1 fretless) I don't play 4 str as much anymore ( mostly 6 & 7 ) so off they will go !

Hey Bruce. I am thick as a brick at times. I saw bsee, not beelee when I checked out your post. No matter. I am still excited about this bass! I am working tax season hours now, so I am simply dumb as dirt most of the time, now, and missing the string number in the title is par for me at this time of year.

I hit my little finger on the pickup selector switch when I try to play like Mark. It hurts! Putting it on the upper horn might be good, if you slap a lot in this area. I suppose playing in Photo Shop would let you see if it looks funny or not on the upper horn. Do you always keep your fingers curled in when slapping? If so, might not be a problem for you.

I don't know. Regardless of how many other basses you have, waiting for 'Christmas' will probably still be tough!

Which special did you pick? The half off on LEDs and half off on exotic woods might cover adding purpleheart core and ebony neck lams (it IS an exotic wood upgrade!), along with half off the front laser LEDs. Maybe you could talk the company into a discount on the switch and dimmer, since side LEDs come standard? Is this pushing it, or what?

Sorry about the mix-up, but I am still jazzed about your new bass. I know you are!

Bruce, that's going to be one monster bass! I'm already looking forward to a FTC thread in which this fabulous recipe is brewed to become reality! I wonder if you are able to go to sleep and NOT dream about your new bass all the time!
