Greets all. Thinking about a change for my recent trade grab, a Czech-made MTD Grendel 5. Great feeling, playing, sounding bass, but the singles can get noisy. Used to have an SF-2 before i went away from racks. Im thinking of v/p/f/f which would reauire a bit of routing that im okay with.
Questions:
what is the "viewing width" of the 4-string JZ magnets? Ive got a 19mm 5 spread over a 4 string size pup. The poles are all the way at the end of the covers.
Also, i know i shouldnt ask, but how much are wood covers? Thinking wengé to match the board.

Thanks all, its possible im just angling for a reason to visit the shop again. ;-)

Can you measure the overall length of both pickups? Not sure if MTD uses the traditional longer bridge pickup or not. Out 4-string JZ pickups have a 2.6 inch string spread above the pickup, so it's not going to work. The way the pole pieces interact with eachother, the field is larger than that with a bar magnet of the same combined length.

You're going to have to route to use our pickups. Any of the 5-string variety will work, but there will be a lot of chips flying to fit in either MXY56 or AXY56.
