Does the Blaster make your guitar louder? Does the gain that the Blaster adds give the guitar an overdrive sound? |

It increases the output, but it doesn't overdrive in and of itself, if that's what you're after. Ron isn't into dirty, he just makes 'em loud and clear...you gotta add the dirt if you want it. The increased gain will make anything you plug it into overdrive much easier and at a lower pre-amp gain setting. this may or may not be desirable, depending on your amp/pre-amp. Be advised that, due to the increased gain from the built-in preamps, Alembic guitars tend to, in some cases, wreck havoc with stompboxes that can't handle the awesome output. There are threads here on the site about this topic. If all you're after is a dirty tone on the cheap, get a Tube Screamer or another stomp box of your preference. If you got bux, a new amp of the Marshall Plexi-style variety, preferably all-tube, will get you closer to tone nirvana, IMHO. Good luck in your tone quest, Kevin |
