Hi All.
Looking for a new set of 6 ine line machine heads and i really like the grover VINTAGE DELUXE (136 SERIES) http://www.grotro.com/Mainvintage.htm
anybody have any comments on grover machine heads or recomendations for other machine heads. What about Alembic machineheads...are they 6 inline compatible and are they even sold seperatly?

Grovers are good..don't know where they're made, though. Fit and finish leaves something to be desired. I have Rotomatics on several guitars, including a $6k Custom Shop LP Elegant, a Heritage Golden Eagle Jazzbox (SuperRotos with the art-deco knobs...machine is the same as regular Roto's), and a Guild D-15M acoustic. Operation is smooth.

Alembic used to use German-made Schallers, but now use Gotoh. Schallers are good, I've used 'em before. Unless you need to have an Alembic logo on the back of your tuners, you can source Gotoh's from several places...they're good (Hell, Alembic can use anything they want) and they come six-to-a-side inline for Strat usage.

There are others...some here swear by Sperzel locking tuners...Fender has used them starting in the late '80's.

Try Stewart-MacDonald, the luthier's haven, for a good asst. of tuners:

Cheers,

Kevin
