Sorry Rami, I can't help you. I remember these pics, me want, me want.
As punishment for sharing this temptation, you must spend a fortnight in a darkened closet, listening to dramatic readings of Bay City Rollers' tunes as performed by William Shatner, Barney the Dinosaur and Regis Philbin.
You may not realize it now, but it's for your own good.

Rami, I thought you already did your last custom, right? (you did ask for help...)

But putting that aside, why only 4 strings, and would you settle for "only" a 34" scale?

I've never really been a fan of the Fender style, but I can certainly understand the appeal. Say "hi" to your therapist for me - or save the money and spend it on another bass?

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for :-)

I know what you mean Rami: as a high six-stringer, I really like this:

Alembic Telecaster

Tasty! ; - )

Rami,
Why deny yourself? I just say give in, it will be cheaper than therapy in the long run. :-)

if you want those guitars they are available at the UK American guitar centre. They are an Alembic distributor in the UK I got my sf-2 from there.
Here is a link to the cherry red jazz bass.

and here is the tele.

They have been on sale there for a few years now so maybe if you were interested you could get a good price.

I'd prefer a 4 string to have that inline 4 headstock, and slim neck that the Jazz Bass is known for - as well as the 34" scale and VVT controls. I just LOVE that Jazz Bass body. It's just so - (dare I call it?) sexy! The Alembic version is just off the charts for appeal. Like a supermodel with all the right measurements.

The American Guitar Centre/Bassworld have a new web site from the one Jazzy's given above.
This is the current Web address.

I'm really lusting after that Tele: I could do with a "spare" Alembic!

Maybe Alembic can start a new line called the "Classic" series. Modern state of the art Alembics with that classic, nostalgic appeal.

I wish you people would stop teasing me with these Alembijazz pics.I played an early 80's jazz for 10 years before my Epic discovery.I want an Alembijazz 5 in the worst way.
By the way Rami, what are you waiting for?I'll be looking for it in the FTC thread.

Believe me Dave, I am soooooo tempted to just give in and do it. But as a fellow Alembician, you know that they don't come cheap. Since I moved to my house, I'm contemplating a car.....
Hmmm....., a car or a new Alembic.... I think the car would be cheaper (and a little more comfortable to sit in).

Hey brother Rami ...
still into Corvettes??
C'est pas bon marché tu sais ...pratique??? Comfortable??? Bôf ....j'sais pas!
Given the fact that you are a well accomplished and busy bass player ...you definitely need a kind of "van", a MPV or a MAVT (Multi Alembic Transportable Van) !
Be wise!

Salut frere Paul!

Pas de Corvette encore. Elle est toujours dans mes reves. Si je vend mes instruments, peut-etre je pourrais realizer ce reve.

(sorry about the lack of accents - my keyboard is English only)

Cheers,

Rami

P.S. I'm not too accomplished or busy these days, I actually spend more time on my bike at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve racetrack than playing.

Rami . . . Z06, Z06, Z06. Actually, I followed a new Cayman on the way back to Tennessee last week and it REALLY looked good. Did not look mid-engined, an effect rarely achieved.

Re the Jazz: I've always dreamed of having a Fender-ish ALEMBIC to go along with the BigRedBass. I'd have it (with the AXYs, soon to trade out to FatBoys) for that kind of tone. Then I'd like to pair it with a five-string Elan with P/J Activators. I just LOVE that combination of the P in front for the beef, and the J at the bridge for the articualtion. I like the Elan as it's Susan's own take on a Fender shape, with a 4+1 Elan headstock, for that old-school five vibe. The great thing is I'd have a BIG range of tones with just two instruments, and the Elan would have the 'classic taper' neck as does the BRB. In effect, the SAME neck on different bodies with different tones. Oughta be illegal!

You know Joey, my favorite Alembic shape next to the Fender Jazz is the Rogue. It too has that sexy offset waist, and with that long upper horn it could be a lethal weapon! That's why I always chose the original Rogue body (I don't care much for the Rogue II shape) for my customs.

But my all time favorite Alembic is the Excel. It has it all, the single Fat Boy with all the punch and power that I could ever ask for in a Bass. Simply the greatest Bass in the world. I even like it more than my Series II!

No, the "Dark Prince" is in a different class. It sounds like you would expect from its wood combinations, construction and scale length; ultimate sustain, brightness and clarity - and that's even BEFORE plugging it in!

Have you ordered an Alembic "Evil Clone" Jazz already?
I just love these "Classic" neck through's

Rami:

Hey Joey,

None of my Excels have double Fat Boys, but a few have the FatBoy/MXY combination. Honestly, I'm not too crazy about the relocation of the Fat Boy on those Excels because they seem to have a little less punch - which for me is it's main point. The relocation gives them a little more bite to capture harmonics a little better, but I prefer the single "Punch in the gut" Fat Boy configuration.
