If I was going to have a custom job,I'd like to see if it would be possible to have the alembic logo surface mounted with the shells in the clouds but also have it backlit by an led underneath so that it could glow nicely. something like this backlit with a delicate soft white light would allow the natural colours to show ( glow) nicely. That's very classy indeed I always wondered, why is there no 'Alembic' script underneath it? I haven't seen one 'complete' yet... I think the script was introduced in '85, will it be possible to order one for my '83 Spoiler? Not that I really want it, I'm just curious... |

From earlier posts, I don't think they will ship a logo or the script. You'd have to send your bass back to the mothership. Graeme |

Yep, I agree on that. I also read something like that somewhere. But wouldn't it be more practical if it could be offered through an official Alembic dealer? It would be a mighty expensive script for us here in Europe if we have to send in the bass for just that... Sorry... on topic: I love the leds idea, it would be great if you could also see the outlines of the logo clearly on a dark stage. (Message edited by fc_spoiler on August 24, 2006) |

It's been discussed on the board before; so I think the answer is yes, a shell logo inlay can be backlit. |

Check out Sims LEDs. They have a couple pictures of backlit logos, including an Alembic I believe. They also have Victor Wooten's crazy LED fodera. http://www.simscustom.com/ |

i asked to have LEDs put in the eyes of the stealie logo on Dark Star, and was told that because they feared routing under the nut would weaken the neck, they didn't feel comfortable doing it. oh well. austin |

The crazy idea I had for Pele. Have a round Ruby cut down and placed behind the A, and have the peghead area drilled out behind it so the ambient light behind the peghead "lights" the ruby. I didn't ask, figured it was a bit too far out there... |

My '85 spoiler doesn't have the script, just the logo. |

My 88 Spoiler has the script - although logo and script are in a slightly unusual place ...

My guess would be '86/'87 My '87 spoiler has the script. I think I saw '86 instruments with and without the script, I'm not sure though.... |

Yes. Now I am owner of 83' Bass, but not the original owner. It was done the major working twice. When I get the bass, it has the script already. The PU had ALEMBIC script without gold, just like late 80's to eary 90's. I think the first modification (with script) was done at the era. Eiji |
