Hi All, Currently I am using a Line6 combo, but I am not satisfied. So I am thinking of getting a new rig for myself. No I am able to purchase an SF-2. Maybe you guys (and girls) can give me some suggestions. I am thinking of using the SF-2 as preamp. I this a workable idea? Any suggestions on the (power/end)amp to use together with the SF-2? Very curious about your suggestions and experiences. Ralph |

While you can use the SF-2 as a preamp, and I think there are a few club members that do, most people don't. It does not have a tube circuit and does not sound the same as an F-1X or F-2B. The SF-2 is a wonderful tone shaping tool, but it's not the same thing as an F-1X or F-2B. As for power amps, club members use a wide variety; but it does seem that QSC, Crown, Crest and Stewart are mentioned most often. Personally, I use a QSC PLX 2402; which in my view is a good combination of quality, reliability, power, and weight. |

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply. I understand that the Sf2 is not like the tubepreamps and this may result is a different sound. I may finally end up with also purchasing an F-1X. But other then that is there a reason for not making a setup where the SF-2 is also used as a preamp? |

Ralph, The SF-2 can, indeed, be used as a pre-amp. However, my experience was that it is too difficult to adjust as a primary tone shaping device. I sold mine and bought an F1X. If you only play one bass through it, and don't expect to make changes on the fly, it should be workable. Bradley |
