Tone block for set neck Alembics

On set neck Alembics, how much difference would a tone block add to the sound? Would it be VERY noticeable? I have 2 Orions and 1 SC deluxe. The SC deluxe has a tone block and it screams! I'm sure the neck through/purple heart stringers and electronics make a difference. Can tone blocks be added to basses post construction? Your feedback is very much appreciated. I just ran a search of the site for "sustain block" and found several threads on the subject.
