Yes I know it was Alembic's entry level instument, but it was my first exotic. The bass had a unbookmatched flatsawn zebra wood top.The figure swirled this way and that rather than the straight lines you normally see.The body was mahoghany. The neck was three piece maple laminate with an ebony fingerboard and mother of plastic oval position markers. It had the adjustable brass nut.The headstock was capped with zebra wood(normal grain here)with layers of ebony and I believe maple underneath.Brass Alembic logo and silver turners rounded out the headstock. The bridge and tailpiece were typical Alembic. The electronics were Activators. The original bass had one set of P-Style Activators,I added another set that really filled out the sound. What would I have different?Wider string spacing,it was very narrow for a sometime slapper.I would like it the traditional string spacing. Also a better piece of ebony or a better fret job to begin with.I ended up refretting the instrument and had great results. I'm sorry I let the bass get away.My wife at the time made me sell it as we were low on finances and I was mostly playing a five string.Something Alembic did not produce many at the time in the "budget" line.I really miss that bass.We shared alot as I was "coming of age".Wonder if Alembic would build me one? |

Yes, they will build you one. I think they even have some of that flatsawn/erratic zebrawood. I think the string spacing you want is the comfort taper (as seen on the Rogue/Europa/Orion). |

I agree with Bradley; and I think it would be a nice project. We've seen a couple of new instruments recently with swirly zebrawood; and the comfort taper neck may give you the string spacing you want for slapping. You can also get the P&P pickups. |

A Persuader price would be tied to a similarly equipped Essence bass. We've got flatsawn Zebrawood available. If you ever want to recreate your old bass, we can build something similar for you. If you've got any pictures of your bass, we can have a better change of getting the particular wood characteristics closer. |

Thanks Mica, Right now I am trying to find some old pictures.I do however have lots of video footage. That doesn't do much for the fine details though. |
