Ever since seeing this guitar on the featured custom. I've been contemplating of getting one made. However after emailing Mica about this when it appeard on the front of the site, I realised it's way out of my price range. Anyway, i have a load of gigs coming in for next year and depending on the price this could be a reality. That said Mica, if i was to get one of these without the expensive inlay's as a series I or anniversary electronics or even the SC signature electronics if thats possible on a guitar and not bass. What would that cost or at least what would the price start at?. I already own the SC Custom Bass and would like that clarity in an affordable guitar. Also the option to have coils tapped to give various options for Single coil and humbucker sounds. If you are the owner of the guitar or have had one made of similar design, please let me know what your experiences are. http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_dragonmagic.html

I LOVE this guitar. One of the most beautiful styled guitars there are. Not only the inlay but merely the absolute "balanced" look of the total design.
You have a excellent but expensive taste jazzy. Why not starting to buy a pair of nylon stockings huh??? Your first step to theb ig money? Well of course there will be a bank involved to rob but that are some minor inconveniences LOL.

Yep, Jazzy seems to have a very simple taste:
always the best!!
I sport the same problem.... Sigh.
Great guitar!

I think all of us have great taste(at least in instruments). We all own or are about to own some of the finest instruments in the world. But, I have to agree that is probably the most beautiful guitar that I've ever seen. That is definitely drool worthy!

Nice thought palembic but I'm not sure being detained at her majesty's pleasure would give me much opportunity to play the lovely instrument in public. So i'll skip that advice. :-)

It's sad to say that the picture of that guitar replaced the windows background picture I had of another lovely, curvy, wonderfully balanced and proportioned exotically brown masterpiece i'd love to get my hands on..... Halle Berry.

But I guess having the achievable on my workspace is a good incentive and of the two.. ....no guesses as to which i'm more likely to get my hands on....... LOL

... hmm me thinks.... If only I can persuade her to buy me the guitar...!!! ;-)

Hello Jazzy,

strangely enough I have been thinking along the same lines you're thinking because of that very guitar. The least expensive guitar Alembic makes is the Orion model. That retails for 3200$. The small standard body is an extra 100$ and the crown headstock is an extra 200$. That would make it 3500$ list. That's the least expensive solution; premium woods would be extra (although there's always the special of the month, who knows?). About the electronics part, the orion comes with 2 humcanceling pickups (HG); after talking to Susan I found out that the option to have the coils tapped to get single coil/humbucker sounds is not available, since the pickups are not humbuckers but humcanceling. On the Orion you get volume, bass, treble and 3 way selector. If you upgrade to Skylark electronics (a 450$ charge), you would still get 2 humcanceling pickups but the controls would include volume, filter and on/off bright switch for each pickup; or for same 450$ you can also upgrade to Spectrum electronics; those include one HG pickup and 2 STR pickups, controls are one volume with tone filter and q switch and a 5 way pickup selector. All the pickups are humcanceling, the Hg has wider aperture, the STR are narrower and more stratlike.

I guess I'll have to look through those suggestions, contact Mica and see what I can get thats affordable.

Is it cheaper to get it direct from Alembic or via a retailer? I don't know many shops in the uk that stock alembics.
If I get it through a store would I still get to choose what I wanted and have interaction with Alembic direct or would I have to continually go via the store.
Also would the guitar come directly to me so I can get my grubby fingers on it before anyone else...( childish yes but understandable) ?

Ive spoken to a dealer fairly close to me and the prices they quoted me were less than the retail prices on this site. I believe you get a solid discount when you buy through a dealer and if you go directly through Alembic that you pay the full retail price. Im not sure about your situation since I believe you are overseas. Im not sure if Alembic allows haggling or anything like that on their retail prices. I also have not done any price checking since the price increase but I would imagine you still get a solid discount when you go through a dealer.

Hello Jazzy,

we suggest that you buy your instrument through one of our fine dealers. We have to sell at full retail price while a dealer can give you a discount. You can still talk to us for every aspect of the construction of your instrument , and we'll be more than happy to help you out.
