Well I started saving up to get myself a cool custom guitar and seeing that I have been playing a self made explorer as my main live guitar for a while now I was wondering if it were possible to get myself An alembic Exploiter guitar. Here I am with the guitar in question, the guitar has a three piece Burled Maple-Walnut-Burled Maple body, a Fender style 25.5 scale length neck. It had a Washburn "wonder bar" for a while (see the main picture) which I replaced for a Kahler later. As for the exploiter guitar, I'd love for it to have a Hippie sandwich body with a mahogany center and vermilion top and back. I love the classic Alembic look with the exposed neck through construction and I want that neck itself to be five piece lamination of maple-walnut-maple-walnut-maple with the headstock style of the Orion. I want it to have a Kahler and to have the electronics of the little darling with an added master volume. Is this possible and if so how much would it cost me? |

I'd love to see an Explorer style Alembic guitar. |

Wouter; there's a really nice Darling in the FTC section right now with a trem bar. The trem will be a Skyway. David; there's a picture of an Exploiter guitar here. |

The Vermilion top and back will look nice. I would think everything you've mentioned would be possible; however, I don't think I've seen a Kahler on an Alembic guitar. |

And while searching for that California with a Kahler picture I also came across this. Which is such a beauty to look at and similar to my own Explorer. It's making me salivate... Perhaps I should reconsider the specs I just put down... |

Hah! Your right; my mistake. I was thinking Floyd Rose. So yes, I would think everything you've mentioned would be do-able. And I think the Vermilion would be really nice on an Exploiter guitar. |

This is an old picture from my first digital camera, but you can still get the general idea: Amberburst finish on this one. |

I had a guitar with a Kahler on it. I really loved the feel of the vibrato. The one at gguitars is a bit overpriced. That much is approaching a new little darling.... |

I've played that red Exploiter! It had the thickest tone I've ever heard. From any guitar. Thicker than an LP by far. |

There's been an Exploiter Guitar on ebay for a while now. The price is probably a little high, but it has remained unsold through several rounds. Perhaps the seller is ready to accept a more reasonable price? Bill, tgo |

Gguitars & Ebay Exploiters are the same one. I think the red one was at the factory showroom when I first visited. I'd really love to see someone order up a Dragon Wing guitar!!! |

Me too! We actually pitched that idea to Electronic Arts when they commissioned the Love Giver guitar. |

+1 on the Dragon Wing Guitar... Now, one question... Is the body of the exploiter guitar and bass the same one? Or is it a smaller version? Just curious.... Greg |

Well mica, maybe you could get your guys to make one for the showroom and that may spur someone on to have one made. You'd be spoilt for choices for what electronics pack to pitch the guitar at though. It sure would be interesting to see. Jazzyvee |

Ooops! I'm sorry for taking this thread off the original subject, even if it's been a while since it was started. I can't remember if you ever got a quote for this, so here it is for today's prices:
7200 | Little Darling guitar | 800 | Exploiter body shape option | 0 | Vermilion top | 600 | add back laminate in Vermilion | 150 | add master volume | 0 | Orion peghead shape | 0 | 5-piece Maple / Walnut neck | 8750 | Retail price-no specials considered. | For the trem, think around $400 for the unit and about $300 for installation, it depends on the exact model. Note that Exploiter hardshell cases are $450 instead of the usual $350. For a couple hundred more you could swing a really nice road case, FYI. (Message edited by mica on April 13, 2010) |
