Ash Neck?

I also have seen that one of the luthiers over here <http://www.zebaoth-basses.de> indeed did used ash for a center laminate with maple outer laminates and whatever intermediate pieces. Maybe this indeed could be an option for fine-tuning a NT instrument's character. Presupposing one is sure about this being what one really wants... (-?!) Well actually, I'm wondering whether the abovementioned folks use graphite inlays to stabilize their necks... That's what prompted the question. Granted I understand that it wouldn't necessarily sound the same in an Alembic. So, unlike a neck through where most of the tone is coming from the neck woods, a good bit of Garrison's tone is coming from the heel block, Walnut body, and top wood.
