I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing relishing the thought that Alembic would create a book with some of the great guitars and basses that they have built over the years. Yes the Featured Custom shows us a small selection of the instruments they have made over the years. But I for one would certainly relish the idea of being able to buy a book containing some of those and others with pictures and brief details, of some of the Alembic builders favourite instruments. Or maybe it should be forum members favourites. Earlier this year I published a photo book based on a selection of photo's I had taken during my tours with Apache Indian and was impressed at how easy the process was. If Alembic weren't able to find the time to do it, or didn't fancy the idea, if there were enough people interested, I'd be happy for interested people to send me good quality photo's of their instruments and I can put the thing together and get it published so that it could be ordered on-line. If anyone is interested in seeing the book I have done for an idea of what is possible, let me know and I'll send you a link. Jazzyvee |

This is an incredible coincidence, as I was thinking the same thing the other day. I kind of wish that Alembic would sponsor something to this effect. I can envision a black leather cover embossed with a gold logo already. It seems like an easy topic to write about as well. All that would be needed would be quality photos, good descriptions of the woods, and a little bit of history, when known. |

I was thinking about this also, just a few months back. I'd volunteer to write the text (maybe the history and context of Alembic and a little fond editorializing), if needed. I've spent the last fifteen years writing professionally about high end audio gear in Stereophile, The Abso!ute Sound and now theaudiobeat.com, so I guess I have some small qualification. Plus, it would be a ton of fun to do. I'm just an e-mail away! |
