I wouldn't necessarily call it "bright", but it has a mahogany body. I wonder if a Maple or Ash body might brighten the tone. Most of your tone (on a neck-through instrument) comes from the neck, so I'm not sure what effect it might have. I had a Carvin LB76 (also neck-through) built with a Maple/Walnut neck, Ash body, and Maple top.
