Is the "Moon" tailpiece interchangeable with a "Bird" tailpiece? Would it require drilling? This is for an Epic 6 string. Thanks! Bryant |

The bird style tailpiece has the opposite screw pattern as the moon style. So the simple answer is, "no it is not directly interchangeable". Because of the bridge/tailpiece design you should have no problem switching it out as scale length is determined by the bridge block location. |

Brian - that's only true of the 4 string tailpiece. 5 and 6 strings have the same screw positions as the bird tailpiece. HOWEVER as each bridge is drilled individually by hand there's no way of knowing if the holes will line up without sending your moon tailpiece into the mothership to be matched. Graeme |

This is an old thread, but I thought I would suggest for anyone else considering this that there may be some difference in how the wood has aged that might become apparent when a different shaped bridge doesn't completely cover the area that the previous bridge covered. |
