She is koa. I forgot to add the serial number with the pics, had a little difficulty sizing the pics. Serial number is 822040. I had put my order in and a few days Susan called me and said they had just got in some incredible flame koa and theu wanted to use some for my bass. Ofcourse I said yes mam thank you. It's hard to tell from these pics but when you look at her in person it's like your looking deep down below thw surface into the grain. I've always told people I don't own any paintings, but I do have an exquisite piece of fine art from the celebrated artist Ron Wickersham and his associates at Alembic Gallery. MAster volume knob use to be a problem as well as the pickup selector. I kept hitting them both when gettig into the pop and slap stuff. I put a piece of felt under the volume knob so it's not as easy to turn, and turned the selector switch around so that the point faces the opposite direction. Worked like a charm. There have been nights when my back was giving me trouble that it seemed more like 20 lbs. But usually if the band is really togeather and the audience is into it, it's almost like it's not a bass but an extension of my heart and soul.I owned four other basses before 1982 and I never had that feeling with any of them. Distributing the weight takes away all the pressure on my shoulder. You can get Alembic-branded straps from the Alembic Store or you can get very high quality (belt leather) 4" straps for an incredibly low price from Italia Straps at: http://italiastraps.com/guitar-straps-uk.html With Italia, delivery may be somewhat longer, but the price makes the wait worthwhile (Definitely take advantage of the 2 for 1 offer!). I've bought at least 6 of them and use them on everything I play. They are incredibly rich quality leather and indestructible.
