I finally did it! My first Alembic. My Fender P Bass of 30 years is feeling a little lonely lately. But I can't put this little gem down. I'm amazed that the Persuader line was considered the low end of the bass's. I've been saying It's like a low end Rolls Royce, its still a Rolls!! Neck Through, Coco Bolo top and Alembic Craftsmanship. Hummm what could be next?

Nice bass Peter! I've only had my Elan since July, but over the years I've had a chance to play a lot of basses (Pedulla,Tobias,Fodera,Lakland,Rickies,Fenders old and new,as well as some local hand crafted beauties). Most of us have (esp. You big city dwellers).Nobody does it like Alembic! They don't do low end anything.Just more limited options on some lines (though you can custom build anything!).They start far above where others stop......

By complete chance, I Love the way the camara flash creates on the cone a reflective Dove reaching out to the Alembic Logo.

What a hoot that your first Alembic is in cocobolo, a real trademark of the line. And . . . another Alembic idiosyncracy: The A and D keys, so close together on the Cone headstock, they touch !

I'm a real softie for P/J basses, to me the most useful combination of Fender-style pickups. And of course, the J is a stack so you get to skip listening to your less-than-favorite AM radio station, dimmers, etc. Nice axe !

That was not by design, but rather necessity. Schaller originally had the anchor screw off the bottom the machine head. Later, they had them face the center, and, well, things crashed! It took a few years to change all the peghead templates. I think it was only on the cone heads that there were kissing tuners.

Wow - that Coco Bolo is really dark and pretty. Mahogany body has nicely aged red too.

Now that I've been playing this Bass for a while, I'm finding myself using the J bridge pickup more as another tone adjust. With its much lower output and its proximity to the bridge it brings out a secondary "Twank?". Its taking some time, but using the Low Pass/J mix combo I'm coming out with some complex tones.

@ Joey, Its all good I'm sort of an idiosyncracy myself ;)

@ Mica, I Maybe showing some ignorance but Crashed?

Oops, typo I meant "Twang" or a higher vibration component. Or maybe I'm just thinking to much and should be playing more. See Ya
