http://www.victorwooten.com/basscamp/2002/2002Gallery/2002_Gal_2.htm Looks like a Clarke model. I don't know if Victor has any Alembics himself... EffClef |

Victor's dad bought him a Series I when he was 13 years old - I think the bass was about the same size as him! Victor also has Stanley Clarke's original Brown Bass, serial number 80. |

Look on vics website: "alembic, the very first truly fine bass I ever owned." Sigh, if not for money I bet he'd still be playing them. |

Victor's Alembic. From: http://www.meandmybassguitar.com/bass%20gallery.htm Quote from website: "In October of 1972, the Wooten family moved to Virginia. There, as Victor grew, he began to follow the career of famed bassist Stanley Clarke. Ultimately, he saved his money until he was able to buy an Alembic bass, endorsed by Stanley. This bass was one of the first to feature exotic woods, such as this Zebra Wood top on Vic's, and on board active electronics. Victor still has this base in his collection as well as a couple of other basses actually owned by Stanley Clarke, including the Alembic he played on the original School Days and the upright from Desert Song."

Very nice bass. I'm 16 and own an Alembic. I'm sure there's someone younger than me who owns one, though. |

It kinda looks like Reggie had his guitar modded by Alembic as a forerunner to the (was it a Spinal Tap Special?) custom. Mike |
