1998 Alembic Rogue Ser# 98Q11530 Although I have posted a few pics, I wanted to do a showcase because it needs another beautiful and very sexy Rogue. Yes - the curves on this girl are so sweet. We immediately fell in love. We meet through a chance encounter via the local CL advertisement. It was kind of fate, I believe. I was wasting time on the computer one night and was looking up info on Peter Trewavas(Marillion and Transatlantic bassist) and saw a mention of Greg Lake. Well, there was a photo of Greg w/ and Alembic and I decided to see if Alembic was still around. And, yes they are. I was amazed at the beauty of what I saw on the Alembic web site. So, as any normal red blooded American would do, I did a CL search and there she was. I looked up some info on the Rogue and was intrigued. A couple of e-mails and calls later, she was mine. But, she needed a little love. George at Shiloh Music (my local cool little guitar shop) did some work on the edges of the frets and showed me how to adjust the truss-rod. With some new round-wounds, D'Addario nickels, she was ready for action. My favorite things about my Rogue are four fold - the first is the look - modern and sweeping. Such a cool shape. Secondly - the finish. Clear coated with beautiful woods - flame maple, purple heart, and mahogany sandwich for the body. And the neck/head laminates are gorgeous also. Third -she's so comfortable to play. The neck thickness, the contours and so well balanced. About the same weight as my old friend Rick, but balanced. This makes this bass feel lighter than it is. And lastly, the sound. So clear and bright with tons of low-end. Here's some photos. The last one is the family portrait. Stephen        |
