First attempt at Picassa. It's really brown, not red.

Ok....two month review of the Distiller.

Pros:

The bass sounds soft and warm acoustically. The wood being at least 30 years old probably has something to do with that. Now I know why people spend so much on vintage bass guitars.

The bass has very low action. No buzzing, but I had to raise the action a hair, due to the harmonics losing sustain. Love that adjustable nut! It stays in tune at least 4 times longer than my other basses, even with the .40' light strings on the neck. I should also mention that you don't have hear the bass to know if it's in tune or not. Again, the 30 year old wood bonus.

I love the medium scale. I can finally play that darn impossible last chord at the end of "Portrait of Tracy".

The design outline of the bass looks like something Gene Simmons would play. Very cool.

The neck tilts back like a Les Paul. What does it all mean? I don't know. But, I do know none of the other luxury bass companies do this.

And finally, I love the whole prestige ideals of the company. I have here a genuine artifact of the 60's counter-culture. Not much of that around nowadays.

Cons. I feel bad because I've owned 3 Alembics, but none of them were bought new.
