Hi I'm the proud (new) owner of an used Alembic Epic 5 strings, with some custom electronics - it's my first Alembic, and I'm really happy with it (so happy in fact, that I felt the urge to share it with all the good people in this forum). It's an amazing sounding guitar, with huge tonal possibilities - what else can one ask from an instrument. Thank you for this forum.

Hi Marc Thank you for your welcome! From what I gathered (from bsee, who seems to know his way around Alembics) it seems this bass has fitted "signature" electronics - two filters, activated by (2)toggles and controlled by (2) knobs. What I can tell is that the tonalities of this instrument are just amazing (sorry for bragging, I'm really trying not to...). I can't begin to imagine how a top Alembic would sound ?! I like it. Regards Gaby |

hi gaby the only time i've ever actually played an alembic was at a music store, e. u. wurlitzer, in boston about 22 years ago. it was a distillate -- probably the simplest stock alembic ever offered -- but the sound, the tone, was amazing. despite the fact that i was surely not even close to the best player they had heard in that shop, everyone gathered 'round to check it out. i'll never forget how that distillate felt and sounded that day almost a quarter of a century later, it's my turn to own an alembic. mine will have 20th-anniversary electronics with an added master-volume control: essentially the same as yours, except with master/bridge/neck volume instead of master/pan when mica and i put together the specification for my bass, i asked her how she thought it would sound. without a second's hesitation, she said "it'll sound fabulous! it's an alembic!" play it in good health and enjoy every note. and welcome to the club marc |

How could you wait so long to have one of your own, especially after you tried one? Anyway, congratulations on your new "baby" (hope you have enough spare time, you'll need it once the guitar comes home) - looking forward to the pictures... Gaby |

They are great, I feel in love with Alembic basses about 20 years age long before i could afford one. At the philadelphia guitar show a 95 epic 5 string Showed up and i bought it. When i got it home i was so impressed with it i sold my other basses to finace other Alembics. Then sold my LP standard mainly becouse it was like waring a coffe table around your neck, and bought a wine burst Skylark. It was a great move it is so much more guitar. And lastly i just took delivery of a Orion Bari. And i love it. You can see most of my collection in the Show case area (newest menber of my tribe). The only thing i'am waiting for is for Alembic to make a arch top jazz box guitar, and my life will be complete. |

Thank you Dave. From what I've been told by other forum members, the electronics sound and behave like the "signature Series"; I'm still waiting for a final verdict from Mica (have a look at Alembic Basses & Guitars - Epic Information Request thread, for more details).
