Hi fellow bassists... my local guitar store made my day! Today the new stores owner gave me a call: well, Kai, I'm cleaning up my stock and just found a somehow ugly Bass below one of the shelves in the dust. Maybe you could come and tell me what kind of thing this is (he's more in Fenders and Gibsons and Sandbergs and now I know he has no idea about Alembic...). I thought about just another Johnson or "Tritratrutra" Bass, visited him and saw this Walnut Epic *shock* -covered with some tons of dust! I said: seems to be an old Alembic and I think there's no way to sell it in our town... eBay maybe. What do you want for it? I could try to sell it... He: I don't know... seems to be a simple Bass, not a really nice one and you have to clean it badly, would 500 Euros be fine for you? And then me badass: 500 and a hardshell case? Deal! (am I unscrupulous? I mean it's christmas time but this was an offer of the shop owner himself and, and... I don't think about selling the Epic) After some hours of cleaning from rocks, pebbles and sand here's "Hector" 99W12013 Merry christmas to you all Kai (Message edited by shellfish on December 22, 2004) (Message edited by shellfish on December 22, 2004) |

Welcome, Kai. Unscrupulous? No, I don't think so. He's in the business and ought to know what different basses are. If he has a diamond and thinks it's just a pretty rock then the advantage goes to the person who walks in and knows what it is. Congrats on a great bass and great deal. Rich |

Ausgezeichnet, Kai! Das ist ein sehr gutes Abkommen! Very nice acquisition at a great price. I like your combination of bass and art in your photography, also. Best of luck! Merry Christmas... Chris |

Great deal Kai, there seems to have been some particularly nice walnut in stock around then; my 1999 walnut Orion says hi! Wilfred |

Nice bass, Kai, but what's a Tritratrutra? Sounds like something from India! EffClef |

I hope all had a safe and happy holiday. Yes Andy, sounds a bit like Kama Sutra but sorry it isn't. Out here in Bielefeld we call all low priced and simple Basses "Instruments from Tritratrutra" (not so funny until you spell it german). btw, the Epic plays great, not as the Series I, but great. Had it with me on several concerts the last days and I'm very pleased. And I don't feel, like with my Series, to execute everyone who touches her *lol Kai |
