Yesterday, I finally got my SC Signature Deluxe (SC14293). I've been lusting for one since my early days learning bass while Romantic Warrior and School Days were spinning on the turntable. To me, it was the epitome of what an electric bass could be and what Fender was hopelessly clueless about - beauty, grace, and advanced electronics. Of course, like most bassists starting out, they were out of my reach - hell, there wasn't any store near Northeast Florida where you could even see one, much less buy one. So, I went through Fender, MusicMan, Warwick, and Fodera over the years, but always knew that I wanted an SC Signature. Yesterday, I finally got it. I drove down to Bass Central (about 2 hours away) intent on either leaving with an Alembic or an order for another custom Warwick Thumb. It's impossible to capture the beauty of these instruments on film - they have to be seen, touched, and played to appreciate the quality and beauty. After playing three (Coco, Coco Deluxe, Buckeye Burl), the Macassar Ebony Deluxe came out. I was floored. 20 minutes later, it was in my car headed back north to St. Augustine. First gig tomorrow, can't wait.

Nothing compares to the Alembic. Welcome to the club. Righteous bass you have, there. I've never seen a top quite like that.

Brad,
I live in the area, where are you playing? Nice to know I am not alone with the only Alembics here. You chose a Beauty!!

Pete, I'm playing in Bunnell at the Anvil (near SR100 and US1) from 9-1. The only other Alembic owner I know in the area is Jim Stafford (Eclipse Studio) but he got rid of his a few years ago. I wanted to kick him in the ass for not telling me before he sold it.

Thanks for posting the back pic, lidon2001. The neck's color and texture has a naturally aged look, as if it were from the 70's. The Purple Heart top laminate also gives it a very subtle frame of color. Just lovely. Not too long after I registered the bass with Alembic, I got a call from Mica congratulating me on the bass and giving me a little background on the history of it and the rather unique wood choice. Really cool story and just one more reason to love Alembic as a company.

That's a beautiful bass! The neck is very stunning with the mahogany and purpleheart recipe. It should be a wonderful summer for you to get accquainted with your new beauty.
Mike
