I don't think that I've seen a guitar stand like that before. What kind is it? Nice pic of both basses. The Europa's top looks great in this pic.

hi michael

your europa has a beautiful top. is it walnut burl, or 'just' an amazing piece of walnut?

also, that's a very interesting distillate. could that be an ebony top?

thanks for posting your pics

Marc; in his post here, Michael describes the Distillate top as being dark Coco Bolo.

Looks like a 5-instrument Rockman stand by Warwick, Dave, I have a couple of those. They make them for 3 and for 7 instruments too, if I recall correctly.

Val, I wasn't referring to the multi-instrument stand; I was looking at the thing that has its arms around the Europa.

The stand is called a Catch-o-matic model GS700 by a company called Nanyo? It's very versatile in that it shapes itself to your basses body as the bass is lowered onto the stand. Not my favorite though because it is a little difficult to make the bass stand upright if you have an offset body like a Europa. Mike

Marcm, Thanks, The top is not Burl Walnut but I lost the wood card so I don't know what Alembic calls it. It might be figured Walnut or Superb, I'm not really sure. I seem to recall a phone
conversation with Mica a few years ago where she said it was just "Walnut"! Isn't that just another example of the high standards of Alembic to just think of this wood as an average piece? I love this company!

It doesn't look average to me; I think it has great figuring.

Oh my god.. This is.. Something else. Amazing arsenal :-)

I'm sorry to be blunt here but have you ever thought of selling any of those lefty alembics? I can't find a spoiler/élan/Europa/persuader/distillate anywhere. I must say I'm extremely jealous of those.

Do you hae pictures of your others? I can only make out the Europa and distillate in this.

Xero, JL Picard has not logged into the Club for a few years now, I hope he is well. I can tell you I purchased the Distillate in the picture above from him quite a few years ago. It has a very dark coco bolo top, almost black. I sent it to the Mothership for a couple of adjustments and I have been enjoying it ever since. I believe he sold a couple of basses to fund a Series II, which is why he sold me the Distillate but as I said before, he stopped participating in the Club so I am not sure what became of Mike or the basses. I wish him well though, a nice gentleman as I recall.
Be patient and the right Alembic will find its way to your home. As a fellow lefty I understand the frustration waiting for a beauty to come your way, but it will happen, patience is a virtue, I guess...
