Wow! it's a real beauty. Thanks for the pics. Does it have a back laminate as well?

Hey Rami,
Nope, no back laminate. I decided to have a the "mother of plastic" ovals, custome cut neck and sustain block put in. Alembic did a great job on the accent laminates around the "elbow cut".

Yes they are. There's Purpleheart and maple laminates around the body as well.

Hey Micky, Thanks...I visited Alembic and fell in love with the Tulip wood. As for the peghead, it's sort of the "JAE" shape, long & narrow...and the "almost" red mahoghany really makes it stand out. It's a terrific bass.

This bass is now owned by Ed "Oggydoggy" Orr from New York. Ed and I swapped axes for various reasons and we're both thrilled with our "new" basses. Ed is a real class act and a pleasure to deal with. ENJOY ED!!

I couldn't be happier, Stoney and I both love the signature electronics, but he preferred short scale and I preferred med-long scale, (I hoped). And this bass does the trick for me. I want to thank Stoney for being honest and for good communication. He is also a pleasure to deal with. Great example of the trust among club members. Hey Daveouch I will get some pictures up soon, I have been to busy playing lately. This bass is much more colorfull than the pictures above show, WOW this thing is beautiful.

They are signature electronics 1 vol, 1 pan, 2 tone, 2 Q switches. Yes the 3rd switch is for the red side LEDs.

I can't believe you are selling this bass. Hey everybody, check out eBay for a good deal on a cool custom bass. So why are you selling it?

Looks like the Essence is now over in the UK and on e-bay again. Maybe....just maybe I'll try to get her (Tulip) back one day. Hey if any clubmembers end up with her, let me know.

The seller's note mentions (at the end) that he might be willing to accept some cash and an instrument of quality. I've emailed the seller with an offer, (which seems somewhat contrary to eBay's regulations), and I'm waiting to hear back from him.
I'll keep this thread up to date if the offer is accepted.

I emailed him about it. He wrote right back. Seems like a straight shooter to me. He also has a Gibson bass and a Trace Elliot Combo out there for auction.

Hi, im new here. Looking to buy my first Alembic. Been playing a Status for far too long now. £1500 seems a good price. I have been talking to the guy selling this bass and i hope to pick it up soon. Its a fine looking Essence. I wondered if anyone could tell me more about the sound? I have played a Signature Standard and a Deluxe and wondered how close it would be.

Also just seen this pop onto ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4713&item=3739276416&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

So, can somebody tell me how this bass sounded? I like the wood combination, and I was wondering how much if at all walnut may change the sound.

Thanks,

Isn't the Isle of Wight Mark King's old neighborhood?
