Nice Bass! Now all you need is a Semi to carry your rig to the show........and a lawn mower wouldnt be a bad investment either at this point.(Dont mind me....I'm just jealous) ;~] |

Nice bass... I like the Les Paul Recording bass too! I have 2 Les Paul Triumph basses (white and natural)... love the thin necks, NOT the weight. Although it's probably light as a feather compared to your Alembic! Keith |

Thanks for the comments guys. If any one is jeleous or wondering, I don't actualy have series electronics on it just had it prepped for future expansion. The Les Paul is a work in progress. I picked it up in really bad shape with the electronics all gutted and mangled (It was spraypainted Opalescent Pink EWE!!!). I'm designing a preamp filter setup for it, and I'm also going to be fitting my gibson SG-Guitar with alembic LOW-Z pickups, and designing a custom preamp filter configuration there as well. As for the Tripple O' Simply amazing. It is a cruel Master though!!! It will conquer you you will not conquer it. I'm so used to playing inferior basses with rediculously high action. I need to learn how to play with a lighter touch. (Tangent any of you guys use a compressor to limit transient peaks from slaping so you can still play with a soft touch with out running out of headroom fast?) Cheers!!! Antone |

Hi Antone: Send me an e-mail. I have an extra set of Les Paul electonics, probably complete with the spare pickups, as well. I bought em on eBay to get the mounting rings for the pickups. Keith, if you think Triumphs are heavy, the first models like the one pictured are significantly heavier. Excelent sustain, even with the original bridges. BTW - Nice omega you got there, and welcome to the club. |

Hmm I might consider it, but I was thinking of making a pre amp, resonant filter with variable Q. Much Like Alembics. Do you have the metal mounting plate too? I've found that one must Ground the mounting rings on the pickups or their like a closed loop transformer coupling 60 cycles into the pickup (Mine were not grounded when I got it). The Paul is actually fretless now (I had to get the neck re-plained so figured what the heck). The old (Pre Triumph?)Les Paul is one thick slab of Mahogany, and is very heavy. on a side note, those Servodrive Basstech 7 Sub Horns I'm staning in front of weigh 230lbs a piece, and when used in a 2X2 monoblock like that, have a sensitivity of 110.5dB 1W/1M (1/4 Watt a cabinet, and put out around 142dB RMS -3dB at 28Hz!!!). I know its a little wimpy it barely serves as a dive bar rig. LOL Have a nice day all Antone- |

Hi Antone, I use a Trace Elliott SMX Dual Compressor because I too am a finger style player who digs in fairly hard on some riffs. The Trace gives me a very even/consistant tone from note to note and I highly recommend it if you are searching for high quality compression. Good Luck, Clay (Message edited by exploiterplayer on May 24, 2005) |

I too use a compressor to limit signal spikes since I employ a wide dynamic range in my plucking hand. |

Sumsound, I thought that the servo system was an experiment way back when. I didn't realize it actually went into production. what year is your les paul(hagstrom) recording bass in the background? Your Alembic of course looks delicious (Message edited by 90k6259 on May 24, 2005) (Message edited by 90k6259 on May 24, 2005) |

The Servodrive Subwoofers have been in service scince the Late 80's, There are many pluses and minuses to them. On of which is cost. Another is they have higher distortion at very low volume levels due to moter and motion converter stiction and jerkyness. Check this site out. www.servodrive.com They still manufacture the BT7 and the Contrabass. There have been a couple of what I'd call failures in the servo driven speakers like the Acoustic SB 2.6, and the cyclone subwoofer. I have no idea what year the recording bass is but I think it may be pre triumph bass. So maybe 68-71? Anyhow thanks again Antone- |

If anyone is interested, there was a Les Paul Recording bass at Cowtown Guitars in Las Vegas a whle back. It was in mediocre cosmetic condition, but it played well. Heavy though! No doubt about it being a big chunk of solid Mahogany. |

Hello All I have a just completed my for real Bass rig. I have been unhappy with LFE of most available bass rigs so I decieded to research and develop my own Subwoofer with some tips from Jerry Steckling (My part time employer). From my preliminary tests these subs are -4dB around 25Hz and have reasonable output down to 20Hz. I have given the sub the Title of BS-212, I am using some EVM15B's in TL606 Cabs for the 80-3kHz region. I have ~1100Wats available for the Subs and 450 for the 15's. LF Extension is incredible. Here are a couple of Photos of the rig and some preliminary close mic test sweeps (White line is sub cone Yellow Line is Sub Port). Yah Baby Yah You ever felt a low A like that!? Sum |

Here is an outdoor sweep I did vs some other pro drivers. 100 Watts @ 10 Meters There is 5-6 to hot a reading on the TAD, BS-212 and JB 2245 sweeps. The JBL 2225 Is more accurate. You can see my BS-212 sub beats out the rest between 20-30Hz by far. And only 1.07% THD @ 20Hz wow!!! All sweeps are 1/2 space on ground plane so treble info is inaccurate. BS-212 Harmoic Tracking 2nd & 3rd THD of BS-212
