I saved the MK from a music store in Brooklyn a while back. I fell in love and had been playing it exclusively. My only complaint was the size and weight, so I went on a quest to find a more nimble player. After a few months of looking, I ended up acquiring a Brown Bass, and a SC deluxe. I can't get enough of the growl and punch of the Brown, or the piano like tone of the deluxe. Hopefully this is the end of my quest for the perfect bass. The MK is up for sale More pictures here. Don't worry the basses were only in the sunlight for approximately the 7 seconds it took to snap the picture on my lousey cellphone camera. http://imgur.com/a/4zHCg |

The previous owner had a few extra toys thrown in. One switch is a bass cut / neutral / boost for the neck pickup, and the other is a treble cut / neutral / boost for the bridge pickup. I wish I knew exactly what frequencies they boost and by how much. Additionally, the LED switch was swapped for a button and a master volume was added He also swapped the glossy finish for a satin finish, which I find absolutely breathtaking. I'm a sucker for non-glossy finishes. |

That signature is my kind of bass. It is a great setup and one that I could see myself specifying if I was having extra toys added to a bass. Have you gigged with them yet? Jazzyvee |

Unfortunately my current live band split up. I've played a few gigs with the signature standard and it sounds thunderous with tons of presence and power. That prompted me to make moves on the Brown and then the SC deluxe. I've done some recording with the SC deluxe and will post up the album when it is fully mixed. I spent all afternoon with the signature standard and its making it really hard to sell I've been thinking about making a Youtube channel to post up some covers for the longest time but haven't figured out how to record + webcam at the same time. I've seen your videos jazzyvee and you're quite talented! |

Is it me or does the SC Signature Model have a larger body than the Brown bass? |

They are completely different shapes - but they will fit in the same case. |

If you see them separately they look the same but seeing them close (enough) to each other you can spot the different curves. |

I totally see the difference - I actually like the Brown Bass shape way more than the current Small Standard body. It's just that for some reason, at the widest point of each body, the Brown Bass looks like it is more narrow...know what I mean? It may indeed be just an illusion. Maybe it's exposure to Stanley from back in the day, but the Brown Bass with the pickup selector on the lower horn is where its at! There's just something about that bass.... |
