The walnut-top has been my go-to ax since I bought it new in '92. A veteran of literally thousands of gigs it is showing signs of wear. The maple top is a '91. Used primarily as a spare the '91 is in pristine condition.

Thanks! I truly love Elans. They consistently deliver the money sounds the FOH engineer wants.

Love the Maple 6-Stringer you have there, especially the top. Does it have some color mixed in with it or is it a natural patina that has developed over time.

The maple is very lightly colored to give it a sort of toasted look.

Is there a difference in tone between the model with Distillate electronics and the model with standard Elan controls?

The tone of the two is very similar. The bass and treble boost switches allows the maple top to go further in either direction, but the core sound is similar. I'm not much of a fan of the wider pickup covers, but appreciate the maple top being about one pound lighter.
