Fantastic looking axe there! I know it sounds great! What kind of rig are you using for it?
Kudos!!

Thanks Mark! I have always loved the Knobby headstocks, but wasn't sure how it would look on a Europa. I made 3 mock up pictures with different headstocks & showed them to my wife & Susan, & they both picked the Knobby, so that settled it for me!

Charles, The amp I use most is a Fender Rumble 350 that is 350 watts into 2X10's It is much more portable than my big rig which is an Eden WT 800 with Eden XLT 4X10 & Eden XST 1X15 cabinets. I use an SF-2 with both rigs so I can dial in great sound on both. Of course the Eden sounds better, but at this point I haven't had a chance to set it up & play the Europa through it. I have to take down my Christmas tree first to put it in a big enough room to really hear the sound. I plan to do that Monday though & may tape some video so everyone can hear the sound.

Just when I was happy with the sound I was getting from my Fender Rumble 350 with my SCSD, & glad to not be hauling my 4X10 & 1X15 Eden cabinets with my WT 800 Eden amp, now I have experienced the incredible sound of the Series II in stereo with the bridge pickup going to the Rumble & the neck going to the WT 800 & 4X10 box! The SII sounded good with the Rumble alone, but it is like it is way over compressed compared to the sound I get in Stereo. I commented to Mica that my Europa didn't have the highs that my SCSD has, but it does in stereo! It really comes alive! Currently I set my Rumble up tilted back & facing backwards like a monitor so it doesn't affect the FOH mix, but it is going to be really hard to not bring both amps & set them up in a traditional backline now that I have heard the difference in sound. I have a gig tomorrow night at one of our smaller venues & the stereo rig would be way overkill, so I will just bring the Rumble & see how the Europa sounds with the band, but if I can't get the sound I want I'm going to start bringing the stereo rig. I left the rig set up & will shoot some video tonight & post it so everyone can hear how incredible this bass sounds.

That is one stunning bass Rusty.I always loved Mike Porcaro's blue 5 string from the 90's but this has it beat.

I didn't want to tell you that in order to really hear & appreciate what your bass sounded like that you'd have to go stereo..but, now that you've found out..you're hooked! You gotta Go STEREO!! Or what's the point?!!! Hee Hee!! Friend me on Facebook (Chalie Holmes bassist if you use it) and You can see my rig for it's very portable, or shoot me an email and I'll take some photos of it and show you.... Use the Stereo Luke!!

Chalie thanks for holding out on me! LOL! Now that I have tasted the Heavenly fruit of stereo it will definitely be hard to go back! I'm going to try just playing trough my Rumble tonight at my gig, but if it doesn't sound good I will definitely be looking for a stereo option that doesn't involve carrying my Eden rig. I tried to friend you on Facebook so I can see your rig, but the add friend button would not work on your page. Friend me so I can see you amp, or email me pictures. My email is on my profile.

Thanks!

Chalie, I still didn't get the friend request from you. If you just "liked" the Nailers page it doesn't come to me, I'm not an administrator on the page. I'll keep trying to friend you. I used my Rumble at my gig last night & it sounded great! Last night was the true test of the bass & it passed with flying colors! It sounded incredible & played like a dream! I had lots of comments on how great the bass sounded. One guy who comes to see us all the time said it was the best sounding bass he has ever heard!

Thanks for noticing Gregory! I'm a stickler for symmetry so I sent Mica a picture of where I wanted the knobs & when I was at the factory we laid them out on the body to make sure I approved. I wanted them parallel with the pickups.

Hey Rusty

I will be thinking of your Blue Orca when I am in Seward next week. My partner Jen and I were there two years ago and fell in love with Resurrection Bay so we are returning there to get married on the beach. Thought it was really cool that you picked the blue finish to remind you of Resurrection Bay, just an amazing place!

Wow Stephen, small world! I'm in Seward now! My Dad has a house there & we go every summer for a couple of weeks! I wish we were going to be here next week, but we go home on Tuesday. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I pray God richly blesses your marriage!

Small world indeed. Thanks so much for the congratulations and good wishes!

Actually we are driving down from Anchorage Monday afternoon after we pick up our marriage license. If you think you may have time to meet for a drink Monday evening send your phone number to stephenr2 at sbcglobal.net.

Can't wait to get on the plane tomorrow...

Hi Rusty

We had a great time meeting you, your wife and friends in Seward. Wedding cermony took place on Tonsina Beach as planned and was just an amazing experience. What a beautiful setting, well worth the trip from California. We lucked out on the weather, too, no wind on the beach and a pair of bald eagles circled overhead as we started the ceremony. Will try to email you a couple of pics from the ceremony.

Jen says hello and we hope you can make it to the September California Alembic gathering.
