This is a bass part of a batch of about 300 or so ( Mica is till going through the recods) that were made for the Japanese market. I believe they all had Zebrawood tops like this one, medium scale, single pickup in the middle, and an unusual brass pickguard over the control cavity that you must remove to change batteries; somehow this one made it back to the US and I got it used in 1993, I believe. After a while, having played long scale, medium, and short scale Alembics ( i used to own a sc deluxe too) I decided that long scale sounded way better on the E string so I went and had the neck redone to long scale at Alembic. |

Missed the question when it was posted, sorry. It involved cutting out the (perfectly good) old medium scale neck and having a new one made; then new neck got attached, carved and re-routed for the pickup & finally re-finished. I'm sure lots of folks will think it was insane, but hey, I'm still happy I did it and that's all that counts, right? Valentino |

Absolutely! If I had the coin to have that done I probably would've had it done instead of selling mine. I agree that the e string sounds better on a 34" scale, at least to me. No offense to Stanley fans out there. |

That must be the nicest Distilliate on here, not that it's a competition. Wait till I post pics, though. |
