Nice rescue, Jim. The tobacco burst looks great over the quilted maple. Sam |

I REALLY like Elans and I REALLY like ALEMBICs in color . . . NICE sunburst, and of course they burst in front, on the back, on the neck . . . and if you DON"T want the AXYs, FatBoys, etc., the PJ Activators are a very potent, usable setup. If only some NITWIT had not attached that idiot thumbrest! This REALLY deserved to be rescued ! ! J o e y |

I normally don't like color, but this is one of the nicest bursts I've ever seen, really like how it's very subtle around the edges, but does a great job of bringing out the quilt. Reminds me of the sunrise I happened to see this morning, after more than a week of solid rain here in "sunny" CA. Thanks for saving it, Jim, and for showing it to us. It's a real find. Enjoy. |

Thanks for the words. From what I recall, Chuck Levin's Washington Music ordered Elan plus's specifically, and I believe there are several of these floating around. Not sure if the thumb rest was factory or store installed - Chuck's is a pro shop - very customer service oriented and may have put it on for the original buyer. This is near mint, no fret wear, little evidence of play. And the P's are extremely powerful, the J's not so much as they are so close to the bridge. Tweaking the PU height and pots for balance right now. |

I've either seen this one or another just like it a couple of years ago in a Pawn Shop up in Frederick MD, about a hour north of Chuck's. Was liking it then, and liking it now! If it is the same bass, glad it got adopted into a good home! --T |

Yep, it's probably that same one, I got this at a shop on 40W. I had looked at it and played it over 3 months, and we came to a reasonable price. I'll post more photos later. |

My '96 Elan + was originally ordered thru Washington Music.... The fellow I bought it from had two of them~ from what I understand the first one was similar to this one, and mine was ordered with two J-bass activators... I love it!!!! Congrats! -Mike |

Yep - The thumbrest is not quite my preference as it's relatively tall, inhibits slap - perhaps I'll change it to a lower profile rather than remove and leave the holes exposed. Note the different angle between the Elan and Old # 12. |

Nice Elan! It reminds me of my own quilted maple Elan Plus 6-string -that I purchased new from Chucks before getting my custom! It's hard to top the Europa electronics... and it's impossible -IMO- to top an Alembic! |
