Hi, here's the newcome of my collection. It's a 1978 Series II, long scale. There's not a lot of information available about it. I love its shape and its sound even if I had (And still have) some problems with a noisy pickup. Take care. Landry (Message edited by davehouck on March 02, 2006) |

Looks great!! Based on the controls I think you may find that it's a Series I. Sometimes people think the Omega body is what defines the Series II. Actually it's the Continuously Variable Q (CVQ) on the Series II that differentiates it from the 3-position Q set-up on the Series I. Peace, James |

James, you might be right! The guy that sold it to me tell me it was a Series II and I believe it as I had never sawn one before. I've asked to Mica for having more information telling her it was a series II and she didn't say anything about this possible great identity error. I will probably ask her again to confirm it with the archives. Thanks a lot!! Landry |

Believe us, its a seriesI my friend,i also noticed the pickup selector has been replaced with a mini three way toggle switch.which means there's no stand-by, but it's a beautiful oldie indeed! |

Keavin - What that looks like to me is that the 5 way is still there, it is just that the knob is missing. That would be an easy fix! Michael |

Series I / Series II. Who cares? It's still a fantastic bass Landry. Beautiful wood. Graeme |

Jacko, I agree with you, Series I and Series II are both great basses (better be...I have one of each). But let's face it, if I were making out with one of the Olsen twins, I'd still like to know which one it is. Peace, James |

Pfft! Malthumb's last comment just made me snort coffee all over my monitor. Very funny and a fair comment! Beautiful bass by the way, whether it's Mary Kate or Ashley. K. |

Someone's going to have to post a link to pics of these Olsen twins. their fame (or infamy) hasn't made it to edinburgh so I've no idea who they are. Graeme |

Sorry Landry, we seem to have veered way off topic here. Suffice to say it can't be bad if fellow club members are comparing your bass to some of the most beautiful women in the world ;-) Graeme |

No problem with the above pictures!! I'm proud to be the owner of a bass that is compared with such beautiful women. The only problem is that my bass talks about music all the time and I'll probably loose my position if I take it out to a restaurant... Thanks for the comments. Landry |

Here's Kate Bush on bass. It's not an Alembic But still very nice. (Precision with Jazz neck) Marc

I remember that photo. Another one from the same photo session appeared on the front cover of International Musician and Recording world around the late 70's / early 80's. Confirmed my opinions about Kate that i've held since wuthering heights times ;-) graeme |

Hi everybody. Just wanted to let you know that this Series I is no longer one of my basses as I sold it yesterday to a great Barcelona's bassman. He will probably use it more often than I did and such a bass was certainly not built to be just in a stand. I hope the new owner will sign in the club and give some news about it. Alembic are strange basses... I've sold or exchanged several other instruments with no sentimental problems but it was different this time... Difficult to explain. Take care Landry |
