Seems like I've been waiting forever to finish that roll of film or finally get a digital cam of my own. Here's my baby. Got her in '87. 34" scale.

Not only is that a great looking piece of wood used to make that, but it looks as if it was taken care of very well!

A very nice bass :-)

Hey Mark,

That's the bass I remember you bringing into the store. Still looks great!!! So how 'bout the Alembic Boston Chapter getting together some night for a drink?!? Maybe after the holidaze?!?!
I got a digital cam for Christmas for the wife and I , just can't open it until then. I'll post some pix as soon as I do though.
Happy Holidays,

Dino

It's been played hard for a decade and a half and even dropped a few times. The fact that it looks good is a testament to construction techniques, engineering, and the tough finish. It has the expected dings on the bottom and the peg head. But I love her just the same. And how 'bout that "fender style" body? It was an option in the catalog back then (hence the F in the serial number). I've been watching here and in the old forum for quite a while to see if any others show up. Anybody ever seen this body on another distillate? Mica, do you know how many you made?

Dino, you still doing that Thursday night thing?

The "Vector" body shape was pretty popular on the Persuader model, but I don't remember any in the Distillates. I can't swear yours is the only one, but it's the only one I've ever seen.

There were two versions of the Vector body shape, yours is the later refined version. The first ones were a bit chunkier.

Hey Mark,

We actually had our last night this past Thursday. After 1 1/2 years, we're done. We'll still gig there from time to time just not steady. I'm at the Acton Jazz cafe the Saturday after Christmas for anyone that wants to come down.

Dino,

I'm a regular at the blues jam at the Acton Jazz Cafe. Come on down -- we could actually ride together 'cause I live in Lowell too. A couple of blocks from the little blue music store.

More history. (This is so much fun). I ordered the bass from the old Rainbow Music in Poughkeepsie, NY. I gave them body choice and neck specs. Otherwise it was a Distillate. They talked to Susan -- I didn't have the privilege. Even though the neck specs don't appear below it came with the correct dimensions.

So, anybody recognize the handwriting?

This is the first time I have seen the body shape called "Vector". Does that mean there is a template for it? If so, was this template used in the early Persuaders?

It's a very pretty bass, Mark! I think I'd love to have this body shape (although slightly modified - more rounded bottom etc) in the fretless 4 I'm currently dreaming of. ;-)

What's the headstock shape? Does it match the body style well? And - of course - do you have any pics of the whole bass?
