Very nice Spoiler! I love leds on basses, it's very usefull on stage.I'm a singer and bassplayer so for me it would be very nice too. Currently I've got papertape on my neck to mark the positions... leds would be much better! Thanks for sharing these pictures F.C. |

Very nice bass. Great pix's too. I also love the led's. I wished I had them when I was still giggin'. I've played many dark venues that they would have been very helpful. |

Royce; it might be a server problem. This type of thing happened once before. Mica might be able to figure it out, but she's out of town at the moment. |

That Bocate top is spectacular. My '76 Series I guitar has a Bocate veneer on the peghead. It is really a lovely wood with very prominent and interesting grain patterns. I'm surprised it isn't used more often on Alembics. Bill, tgo |

Bill, I agree about the bocate. Maybe if there were a bocate section in the Wood Bank topic...? |

I agree as well! My bocate Europa matches anything I've seen for appearance... it's an awesome wood, full of detail and randomness!!! |

Oh, and, uh... YOUR bocate Alembic looks most awesome as well!!! I like the mainly line-y look, with the random bookmatched swirls!!! |

Very beautiful bass. The headstock-and-feathers-on-black picture is a work of art itself. Rich |

Yep, love the wood, but that headstock photo is truly special. Funny, but I must not have had my glasses on the first time I looked at, because I thought it was propped on the edge of a black leather chair or something, with enhanced contrast. (for those of you who still have perfect eyes, try squinting a little, think really soft, supple leather) Care to say something about how you shot this? |

Thank you all for the great compliments! I appreciate them, it really is a great bass and I'm blessed to have it. I just played it at church for worship service and they're all like "Can you tone the bass down a bit" and I'm like "mmmmmm, no". Ahhh, non-bass players, they just don't understand. As for the pictures, I'm a photographer so I had a nice camera to take pictures with, it makes a big difference in the quality of the image. Then I put them in Photoshop and enhance the contrast and play around with the brightness, as most shots usually end up looking more dull than they actually are in real life. The one with the feathers was taken in a studio with (if I can remember right) 2 Calumet 750w flash heads. One with a soft box and the other using a diffuser. Alembics are so beautiful I'd be happy just taking pictures of them : ). |
