4 very different insturments at first glance, but once you play and hear them you can sure tell they are kin. Yes the one on the left (spalted maple 4 string)is the one made famous by an unscrupulous eBay scammer. So if you ever see it on ebay, "Its A Scam".

Thanks everyone, I am truly a blessed man. I have custom knobs coming from THG for all 4. When I get them on I'll post some more pix.

Toby, I would have to say the 4 string spalted maple is my favorite. Probably because I played 4 string basses for over 20 years before I got my first 5 or 6. I like the sound of the Series II the best though. So I have made the plunge and decided to order a custom. In fact I sent Bass Central a check last week so it should be started pretty soon. It will be a 4 string, S-2 with the 3/4 omega body. The inlays on the fret board are going to be the best part. I can hardly wait to hear from Susan so I can give her my ideas.

David, I play guitar too so that may well be in my future. I have a 6 string Warwick Bass which is nice, but it ain’t no Alembic!

Ole', Olie.
They're even better in person, the burl top on the five string is impressive.

Mike, the next time we hook up I'll bring that Burl Maple MK and let you try it on. It weighs a ton. I'm glad we only play about 30 minutes at church. I couldn't imagine playing the sucker on a 4 or 5 hour gig. OUCH

Olie, just keep me away from the Series....lol. I wondered how long you were going to keep mum about the custom. Have we ever seen a 3/4 body S2?

He is good, indeed. (And it's right that Alembics go to church.)
