This is the Classico we have in our showroom right now. It's a yummy Quilted Maple top with Pau Ferro fittings:

The bridge looks pretty cool too:

The first Classico Showroom picture and it's a 5 string too! That is beautiful, now if I only could play upright... Thanks Mica.

You are observing a picture of my almost-12-year-old's favorite reason to visit Alembic ... the Space Invaders arcade game in the background! This Classico does look amazing in the flesh (in the wood?)

Mica, do you know if Stanley has a classico, or does he stick to the acoustic double bass?

Has he played one?, what does he think?

The Classico is modelled off of Stanley's personal upright bass. He hasn't however purchased one.

wouldnt mind some fret dots..... bill
gonna try fretex and see if they have been able to come up with something. i asked about a year ago when i got the ns c5rm and they had tooling issues
-----------------------------------------------------
got some feedback from the seller and this was confirmed by mica
the bass was sent back to alembic and ron tweaked it. according to mica it may just be the best sounding classico they ever made and has been the benchmark soundwise for all future classico's
as soon as i said- i have gino's bass- she starting telling me this

Maybe it'll be Scarlet as in Burl Redwood... check out this AWESOME Balance K:

http://alembic.com/club/messages/631/34682.html?1168461535

It speaks for itself.

Maybe something like that with a Red Mahogany body, alternating Ebony & Maple pinstripes, and alternating Ebony and Vermillion neck laminates with maybe two Rock Maple racing stripes!

That would be an awesome Scarlet bass!

Man, if I wasn't getting Coco Bolo for my new monster, I'd be getting this!!!

Mind-blowing...

picked this bad boy up saturday. will post some photos shortly
if anyone can give me some insight on what strings alembic supplies or what strings you use- much appreciated
looks like TI's are on there now- purple wraps
the bass was originally owned by phil baker of gino vanelli's band- but we were unable to find any photos of him playing it
the hard travel case is the size of a coffin- literally

I can play that bitch! I just unoficially auditioned for an 80's rock band at a jazz gig I booked this past Wednesday. I was playing my upright soloing over some Vince Guarldi (sp) stuff. And the guys that were watching that play in the rock band were impressed!I got the gig! Ha Ha! I can't find my camera to take photos of my Double bass, and my two other basses that I had converted to stereo (5 pin jack too to switch between my Distillate, Sheckter 4 string piccolo, and Wittman 5 string. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
