Jags - EMW is shorthand for East Meets West. "East" as in east-coast super-Jazz builders, usually with a two-band EQ, "West" as in a certain west-coast builder that is well known for its preference for LP filters. Kind of Alembic's take on Sadowsky, originally at the request of one of their dealers. |

jags, EMW has separate bass & treble controls (like a stock Epic, Orion, or Excel), 1 volume, 1 pan, and 1 low pass filter with Q switch. I believe ctjim's also has side LEDs with an on/off switch. Mike |

Thanks Adriaan, Dave, John, Mike for the compliments, but a small co. out west deserves the credit. John, yes it does have amber side LED's and golden agoyya inlays. I just wish it were a short scale, which would make it perfect for me. |

Wait, Kevin (Kmh364), also deserves some of the blame for this bass. Way back when... he ordered this identical bass (?), only he wanted JZ pup's rather than MXY's. Well, the rest is history... Thanks Alembic/Kevin. Life is sweet. |

Just saw this thread...you're very welcome. Still that's a real beaut! Enjoy! One of these days I'm gonna post pix of my two Custom Orion "twins" (does that make them Gemini's instead? LOL!): "Son" of EMW and EMW #4 (4). FWIW, CTJIM's custom Orion differs from all the other EMW's in that it has a mahogany body and the controls are set in a "smiley face" layout. Somehow, Susan ordered my EMW with the MXY's and Mahogany body and then they made me a new one when she realized what happened. This one got finished to the remainder of my original order specs, minus the boo-boos. I subsequently added a gold-plated SS surface mount logo with shell, PH neck pinstripes, THG knobs, and an ATA flight case to "Ke(vi)n's Custom Orion" to finish my order. Cheers, Kevin |
