Yes. It is a beautiful bass and reminds me of my Series I (as DaveH stated in his post on the eBay for Sale thread on this bass.)

Seeing the bass on eBay made me dig into the history of 'Starcastle' and Mr. Strater. You know, a few breaks here and there, being in the right place at the right time, all have a part in what bands make it and what bands don't. At least this is my opinion. Some of the most talented musicians I have ever seen or heard are ones I have heard in out of the way clubs or churches and never made it big. At least did not make it big in the eyes of the world.

It seems that Mr. Strater was a dedicated musician who kept his passion going at a high level for a long time and enjoyed some commercial success. As the picture above shows, he obviously had great style and great taste in musical instruments.

Adam (2400Wattman) posted that he met Gary Strater and found him to be a very nice guy and top notch musician.

We are all players who not only should, but must, 'Play On.'

I saw Gary play with Starcastle in '77 or so, opening for Utopia. Great player, great tone and a white Rick as his backup instrument. I believe he's passed away several years ago, from liver or stomach cancer if memory serves...
