I've had this bass just over a month and after a few settling down issues due to transit I now have it set just as I like it and I have also come to some understanding on how to get the most killing punch and zing with loooowwww growl. I'd like to thank everyone here eho has shared info on setting up as I'ts something I've never done on my previous instruments, mainly through ignorance, but because of the hugely helpful and knowledgeable posts on this site the feel and sound of my bass has entered a new dimension for me. Some of that credit of course is owed to Alembic for the creation of planet earths finest bass wave generation devices (bwgd) I can't believe I got to nearly forty before owning one of these. I know that my gushing over this bass is preaching to the converted here but I had to share with people who know the extent to which this phenomeon is true. so check out below for a few pics finishing with one vvvv happy bass player (although the bass face is as dead pan as ever) Jake |

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Jake, it's a beaut. I've also got a Coco Bolo MK Deluxe Balance K on order, so I'm having to live vicariously through others for now. Congrats on a fabulous bass. |

Thanks all for your kind words. Mark I had a sneaking feeling that after the anticipation of the wait was over that a little blueness might set in once I had it. I have never been so, or so pleased to be, so wrong. It has exceeded my expectations wildly and continues to do so. So live vicariously on and I'm pleased to report that it will only get better. I hear ya, Jake. For whatever strange reason, it is often the case, as Mr. Spock once observed, that "having is not so pleasing after all as wanting." To whatever extent this is a rule, Alembics are surely an exception. As the proud owner of what is arguably the most awesome Europa they've ever made, it totally wows me everytime I pick it up, just as much as the first time. I still open up the case and just stare at it and contemplate its beauty and awesomeness upon occaission, when time permits (and when I'm not playing it!). Congrats again on a stunning bass! Cheers! |
