Oops, I did it again. Darn, just can’t help myself. After picking up my Custom from Bass Northwest, I got bit by the Alembic bug again. I had an inkling for a Brown Bass, but after perusing Alembic dealers, I found this sweet Signature with a ton of upgrades at Will Gunn Guitars. Please see images that Mica took before leaving the mother ship (please click on links). Will is the sorta’ guy that really wants to make sure that you are satisfied, and that your purchasing experience is the best. Can’t go wrong with that. Really, I am so pleased with the instrument and my experience with Will; I would heartily recommend him to anyone who is shopping for a new Alembic. I plan on doing a custom in my near future, and will go to Will for this as well. The flock had a party when she arrived, which I have included a pic of the group during the festivities. http://www3.alembic.com/img/inst/13768_45viewL.jpg http://www3.alembic.com/img/inst/13768_bodyfrontL.jpg http://www3.alembic.com/img/inst/13768_bodybackL.jpg http://www3.alembic.com/img/inst/13768_woodL.jpg

Absolutely amazing top on that bass- I admired it on Will's site several times. I agree about Will- I have an order in right now and he was incredibly helpful during the planning process- he was incredibly patient and had a wealth of knowledge. He seems to be a perfect match for Alembic! |

Thanks for the compliments guys. I wished I had sized the picture a little better. As for the top on the new Signature, it really looks like rock- or maybe a piece of marble that you would use as a counter top. Truly amazing. I was not much into burl, until I saw this. |

Thanks Karl... the black hardware really works well with the top. I believe the finish is a nickle plate as opposed to a chrome plate, which to me has a much nicer luster. Hi Will, sorry for my poor image, but the bass you ask about is an early Gibson Tobias 5 with zebra wood top. It also has one of the most spectacular flamed maple necks I have ever seen. I do like this one, as these days I mostly prefer 34" 5's, and this one plays quite nicely. Here's the pic again, re-sized a little larger:

I missed this the first time around - both those Alembics are amazing! (And the others are not too shabby!) I hear ya about getting bitten by the Alembic bug - I just bought my third, also a Signature... |

Tim's Signature SC bass in now in my stable (I do need to get some decent pics of it up) and I have to tell you the photos here don't do justice to the beauty of this bass. Hopefully it will be sunny and over 35 degrees here in Minnesota someday soon (this weekend maybe?)and I'' be able to take it outside to get some good shots. I've tried indoor photos but they just don't give any indication of its beauty. |
